1995-2020 = the longest barren spell without silverware in Everton's history

The ESK suggesting we’ve got nothing to spend well certainly not the money spent over the last two summers.

This is all starting to hit a wall again if it’s case.

Like the Witsel transfer let’s hope he’s wrong.

Oh dear. If that's the case we'll struggle to finish in the top 10. This squad is poor.

I guess I just don't villanize the other side when it comes to politics. I've got a degree in political science, which means nothing.

I prefer to believe everyone wants the same ends, just believe in different means to get there. I prefer to believe people aren't ill willed but I know some are.

That's why I never associate or would want my club to align with my politics. If someone is being oppressed and Everton stands up for them, of course I'd love that.

For example, I'm an American conservative, can't stand trump. Grew up with a single mom who would have benefitted from assistance but refused because she knew she could make it and did. Didn't feel like she deserved it, we still think assistance to some is great. I'm rambling, in the end if Everton weighed in on that issue it wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

I enjoy football as a release. Getting politics infused with it is something I'd rather not and I think it's unhealthy.

The Barca vs Madrid, the Celtic vs rangers more so. It's just dumb. It's looking for a fight. I can't stand liverpool but I'm not debating Keynesian economics with them.

Great post.

How can it not be about politics? You might not want it to be but politics is about every aspect of daily life. It’s impossible to suggest City’s ownership isn’t related to politics even if you’d rather it wasn’t. The way Everton is run and where the money comes from will always be political and a question of morality.

Corky why do you bang go on about the atmosphere at stadiums such as Goodison and Ibrox when you've previously admitted you have never been?

Youy must read a lot of books I'll give you that but don't try and kid on you understand about atmosphere at big games when you haven't experienced any.

Sorry dude when and where did i say that?I think your imagination is running riot again.:)

here's a little help with your memory Corky, happy to vault a few more later if need be.

I've never been to Ibrox or drank in a staunch Rangers pub.I do know Rangers fans though. Not all of them are bigots. The same with Celtic.I just took a liking to them long before i was aware of all that other stuff. The issues in the north are a million miles from your thoughts when you are 9 or 10 years old.As for if i ever go to Ibrox.Im half joking here but i'll probably put on my best Ulster accent or something.

His predictions of Liverpool scores might be famously bad but no one speaks more sense about the board and lack of ambition at Everton than Davek

One of the few to see through moshiri and the endless publicity stunt of a ground that's years away from even being funded.

Huge summer now for moshiri, and the so called saviour brands.

There cannot be any excuses. Do or die.

Did you root for city at all this year? I choose not to infuse politics which I consider something very serious, with something recreational.

If City dominating the EPL, or any other club funded dictators I'd be concerned. They infact burn cash and operates at losses, those who are arguably getting corrupt money.

Fine by me. Those clubs won't save them and they'll suffer the wrath they deserve.

The potentially corrupt ownership of clubs is not enabling corrupt governments and hierarchies. It's actually the opposite.

So like I said, I'd love for Everton to be the diamond in the rough, but it really doesn't matter at all when you take a larger perspective.

People will point at City's transfers. The hell do you think the Arab Emirates makes? Or Russia in regards to Chelsea? You have it backwards. These are money wasting hobbies. They aren't propping up corrupt regimes.

There are evertonians who are 24 years old that have never seen us win a trophy in their lifetime

disgraceful

I can’t recall much in terms of Football before the age of 5 or 6, in which case there will be blokes touching 30 who haven’t had that pleasure.

Getting back up there is do-able but it’ll have to be an incremental process, creating a virtuous circle where a small improvement feeds into another and it’ll therefore take several years. The fundamental element is a solid plan addressing all the elements - stadium, squad, scouting, data, commercial, management. It also needs patience. I reckon we’re in a better position in this regard than any point in the last 30 years so I’m cautiously optimistic. Our job and our only job is to support the club and the team.

Politics and recreation are interlinked - it's impossible for them not be. Politics is the everyday.

I can assure you this is not about wasting money. This is about soft power and creating a good PR image for the governments and countries behind this. Amnesty International have spoken up about this practice and how dangerous it is

Is it any wonder we gp a quarter of a century with no silverware when we have fans happy about handing a 34 year old another contract?

It's symptomatic of our lot. Sentiment rules any hard headed decision to get shut and move on to better the team and win trophies.

No team in the top 6 or Leicester for that matter would have retained Baines even as a back up.

We're not serious at this club. We deserve all we get.
