You can't really slap a 20% tax on property sales like that mate. The current tax on a property sale of a million is about 4.5%. If you made it 20% you're likely to skew the market so much that you'd bring house sales at that level to pretty much a grinding halt, which would filter down the property ladder. You'd have to change the system much more gradually not to break it.

Stamp duty above 1.5m is currently 12%

True, my sister lives in Sussex. Between her and her husband they probably gross about 85k. They have kids, one at uni, live in a four bed detached house, have dog eared passports from the number of times they go abroad in a year and show absolutely no signs of struggling. Granted, if they lived nearer London, their money wouldn't go so far, but you could say the same about people grossing 15 to 20k a year.
They gross - is that then before or after taxes?

Plus if it's two people then their tax burden is a ALOT less that one person earning 85K.

Also just because people don't show signs doesn't mean that they don't. I know people who live in huge houses and only heat and live in one room. They want the appearance of being well off without actually being well off.

Correct.

This is why the "we're all in this together" is laughable.

This. This. And This. Fed up of hearing it when it's blatantly obvious that we're not. This is what I was trying to get out of @peteblue earlier when I was asking if the Tories genuinely believe it. I have a feeling that some actually do. There are people on these boards who've even questioned the legitimacy of stats produced on poverty and wealth inequality, suggesting that it's all left wing propaganda.
I guess some people are just detached from the real world.

People who vote left or either 1. Employed by the state. 2. On benefits 3. Fooled by politicians who like the power and are employed by the state 4. People who are self righteous but wan others to pay for their self righteousness, the same people who do charity sponsored runs etc - they get to do something they already want to do and have everyone pat them on the back without actually sacrificing themselves.

Erm...

What?
