Are you on a wind up?

No-one compares the Germany of today with that of the 3rd Reich.

The victims of WW2 died to rescue Europe from Nazis, they fought for freedom and the removal of a great force of evil.

Most would look at Germany today and in comparison to what might have been be proud of what their sacrifice achieved.

What about the ones that died in the 1st World War?

Germany wasn't the 3rd Reich then. I suspect the German people/rulers still see themselves as the natural rulers of Europe. Look at how they've treated Greece, Spain, Ireland etc during the last 8 years.

Even France has come to the realization that it's very much the junior member in that partnership.

My biggest fear is that they are robbing them of their democracy. I'm not worried about nationality. You still consider yourself English even though you've been part of a political union for how many years called the UK.

Nationality is more about culture and identity rather than actual borders. Democracy is about borders and how power is exercised.

Europe could and should work and probably needs to work to curb the influence in the future that America and China will have in a world with ever more diminishing resources.

However it needs to work for all nations and right now it only appears to work for Germany.

Most European nations are traditionally roughly the same. White and Christian. Ok germany, england and others might be germanic while there might be some that are celts and other european tribes etc and those differences still play a role when it comes to our cultures and even how we run our regional governments but they aren't worlds apart.

The more I look into the EU, the more I despise it. It's ran by a bunch of unelected bureaucrats and there seems to be no democracy. I'd advise you to watch some videos of UKIP MEP's in the EU parliament, they raise very important issues in the EU.

That's the problem. The English just don't want to play ball with the Germans. It's the same problem Hitler had.

The Germans try to get them on board but oh no they must be independant and do their own thing. It's probably a left over gene since they where all the members that left main land Europe in the first place lol

You are missing the point somewhat: I have no idea what tax breaks you are talking about - I have never heard of them or looked into them. I was not brought up to expect handouts from the state, so I have never considered my eligibility for tax relief on pensions contributions, or housing benefit, or child benefit. These are things that I just wouldn't claim unless I genuinely needed them, and I presume that our combined income makes Mrs. Tree and I ineligible anyway.

What scares me a little is the idea that somehow £50k is seen as a large gross income for a married working couple: it's a teacher and a council admin officer FFS. Higher Level Teaching Assistants, trainee police constables and train drivers earn more than I do!

Well, yes it's probably because of our proud culture and great history. I for one will never allow our country to become a 'state' within a U.S.E I will be out there protesting if necessary and I'm sure the majority of Brits hold the same view.

You see I have more an issue with the fact that they made my country debt slaves.

First they lend to the people inflating the homes to way over the market rate and then pin the private debt on to the government and tax payer in a very dodgy deal right before a new government came to power.

Since then the Irish leader has been nothing more than their puppet.

Hopefully there's still enough non-Tories for his sake. I have my political beliefs but I'd never risk my livelihood with a public statement that is nothing but venting.
