his majority is what 9? could you explain what the problem here? cos im guessing its unlikely 9 mps are gonna die/join ukip

i must be missing something

That majority is nothing. The Tories constantly divide over the EU in particular. One vote comes up that the backbenchers don't like Cameron's position on, all it'd take is 20 or so voting against the government and that's that.

Not only that, Cameron won't serve another term, so the leadership moves will begin in earnest shortly. May and Johnson will be looking to cause chaos and get another election called within the next 2-3 years while Labour are decimated.

It'd be something of a miracle for Cameron to get through this free of challenge. Take Scotland for instance - he might try and give them Devo Max; do you think every Tory in that house will let him?

If they thought Labour would be any worse than the Tories who took us into a double dip recession then they'd be thick...sorry, even thicker than I thought.

You need to take some time out of the thread Dave. I'm not quite sure why you feel above anybody who voted Conservative and feel the need to run them down. Whatever reason somebody has to vote Conservative it's their choice and to be honest is none of your business. It's great living in a democracy, free will and all.

I for one voted Tory and do not feel the need to justify my decision to anybody, nor do I need good people like yourself telling me how thick I am for doing so.

There are no guarantees in life Dave and for all we know the Tories may balls it up but then again Labour might have got in and bled the country dry.

I hope so.

Remember when the three main parties all put their weight behind a no vote in scotland and the result was that they lost all their support in scotland and the only party that went for yes won all the seats.

If Labour, the lib dems and the tories unite behind staying in the eu then ukip will clean up in 2020.

Actually, thinking about it, the backbenchers would vote to give Scotland whatever they wanted!

It's in Camerons interest to give Scotland as much power AND RESPONSIBILITY as possible, so that they have to stand up and not just blame Westminster.......

Oh that's another thing too - electoral reform. UKIP and Greens have a big mandate for it to be acknowledged - the Tory backbenchers would vehemently oppose anything that cuts into their territory.

So Cameron has to offer things to the left, yet not annoy the right. Good luck to him.

Oh - like the disabled, you mean? Or those who sign on because they simply cannot get a job? Don't forget the conditionality attached to claiming JSA & other benefits.........

I just told you who I classify as scroungers, Jesus Christ.

People who can work, but choose not to because they'd prefer just to get benefits because they think the world owes them a living. Why do you have to try and twist everything.

I would be reasonably confident of a No vote in an EU referendum, once a serious, grown up discussion takes place, rather than some of the nonsense that has been spouted in the past.

Indeed. He'd be the man who'd break up the union if he did, but given the SNP "threat" he's painted, I think the scared ickle Englanders will be quite happy to see them leave now.

Which would make them absolute idiots, but there we are.

I agree but the problem will be the same as scotland. If everyone united behind the eu than those who generally dislike the eu which might well be 40% of the voters will flee to the ukip.

You need to make them think they have a place in the mainstream parties. We clearly didn't convince the scots that.

Now now - are you related to IDS?. You've certainly got his siege mentalitywhen confronted with questions you don't grasp thoroughly.

That's right - they get all sorts of money just THROWN at them - no conditionality attached WHATSOEVER.

What's it gonna be next? "I know a fella, he gets this that & the other......"

interesting cheers, so our biggest hope is massive divide in the toried and labour electing the right candidate(whoever that may be)

this all seems very familar...........
