We will never know and can only guess at the reason for such a catalogue of poor signings. To blame Walsh ignores his previous success before Everton. All clubs make mistakes with signings, but surely few have as bad a record of dud acquisitions as Everton, although I do not study other clubs' dealings. No doubt other clubs' fans can point to their own list of catastrophic mistakes. It has certainly hammered the confidence of our fans in the management of this club and that distrust will probably last for years to come. Perhaps we need another Rooney to explode on the scene from nowhere.
