2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

They where in League one 2 years ago so for them being in the PL a massive achievement
Yeah, two promotions on the spin. They know they were here for a short time this time round. Enjoy the experience and then rebuild a better equipped side in Championship.

An Ipswich fan I knew had mixed feelings about gaining promotion last year. An incredible experience, but simply not ready for the Prem.
The fact they aren’t embarrassing themselves is a decent achievement.

Honestly think we're witnessing someone have a breakdown here.

Agree with the general point. They're being talked about as though they're done, mind. They're level on points with 17th. Still every chance they stay up even if you'd expect Wolves to have more.

This league truly is the pits. The bottom three are absolutely woeful. I'm convinced that we'd have managed to stay up even with the clown Dyche still here. Under Moyes, and hopefully with the addition of a frontman we might even be able to get to the dizzy hights of 11th or 12th!

IF we win next week we have gone a long way to safety in fact we should be looking up. We do need reinforcements though especially after the injuries today. It makes a mockery of those who said this squad was not capable of more than just trying to draw 0-0.
Let's not confuse what Moyes did as an entirely different approach to what Dyche had been doing.

Yesterday's win was the epitome of risk averse, try and nick it and if you can't nick it take the draw. That attitude is not a gameplan that is trying to draw 0-0, it's playing percentages. Veltmann making a bad decision was that little bit of luck that rewards that gameplan.

This squad is not capable of doing much more. People are getting carried away by a couple of good results and seeing more quality in the squad than there is. The same way some were constantly claiming we were 100% down after every bad result or run for the last 3 seasons.

This was Friday, Dave:

There's no contradiction there.

I stated for a long time that stabliity was needed and if maintained we'd be clear of relegation. That changed when we sacked a manager who handed us safety for two seasons and got another one in who is not going to get players in it seems certain now.

We got a very scruffy win yesterday playing some of the most sterile football any Everton team have offered in a PL game and we remain in a relegation fight.

Still lots of work to do and plenty of points to play for, but at this point it would take a catastrophic run of form from us and a significant uptick in form from both Wolves and Ipswich for us to drop into the bottom 3. Possible, but increasingly unlikely.

Realistically, 3 wins in our last 16 games probably sees us safe. 4 wins all but guarantees safety.

That wasn’t even some of the most sterile football we’ve played this season Dave.
