2024/25 Relegation Thread

Today felt a bit like Palace at home last season. Didn't turn up for pretty much all the game but late scrambled goal and it's a 1-1 and at least relieved not to lose.

Today dosen't matter going to Southampton and winning so that's the task now given they only have one point.

The gap to the bottom 3 is a false one currently, being as they are on 3pts from 8. We're averaging a point per game and have had decent fixtures.

I don't currently think we'll go down, but to assume we're going to be comfortable at this stage is lunacy and the exact sort of presumptuous mentality that sleepwalks teams into big trouble. We need a couple more wins asap in this kinder run of games.

I dont know if its because i only really see highlights of clubs around us but they look like they're better than they are. But that might be the issue. me seeing dribs and drabs. Are ipswich another luton. Southampton for all the praise they get for trying to play the right way will it put hardly any points on the board. Wolves look to me like they can play. Will they go on a run....
And then i watch Everton and i think we're mostly just dross but at times functional dross. But never to improve more than just occasionally functional.
We're probably the worst team to watch. And possibly in the bottom 6/7 to finish.
I'm maybe a pessimist but when you have only beaten teams who have zero wins between them this season you do tend to lean that way.
Occasionally functional is the best i can do regarding Everton. Ndiaye is the only thing thats cheered me up watching Everton.

Ndiaye has been very good in the games I`ve seen this season. He stands out because he is looking to have a go at the opposition. We have few players that want to get the ball and go forward and have too many willing to go hiding or pass backwards when they do get the ball.

Yesterday showed how limited we can be and how ultra conservative Dyches approach is. It was a real opportunity to take a game by the horns at home and get three points. Instead we handed Fulham the initiative.

How "comfortable" we are for me comes into play after 30 games but I imagine at best we'll still be looking over our shoulders. It's not what we would want with the excitement about moving which will be reaching fever pitch then.

The Friedkins may need to take a longer look at the January window and what can be done to bring an additional player or two in.

And based on yesterday Dyche is not doing himself any favours either. Whilst it's more likely than not he will see out the season, I don't think it's a given by any means. But I'd rather the continuity for now if it meant we were doing ok.

The prospect of not being comfortable enough early enough in this of all seasons is very unsettling. I think we'll be ok but not a great deal more and another nervy ending ahead.

Looking at some of the teams in around us fixtures around the same time as ours turn.

To be honest most of our rivals have touch fixtures themselves.

10 games is a better indicator than 2 games for sure. The real defining yardstick though is 19 games, that gives a decent idea of where about a team will be operating, even then a decent or bad spell of form in a whole remaining half a season can dictate position much more.

It’s just far too early to either be worrying all the time or feeling completely safe.

Agree mate, we review after Forest at home, my hope is to have about 20 points on the board or close to it by then.

Half the time i read on here. You would think every game we have had is the easiest game of the season going by some, while every other team have had the hardest fixtures around.
