2024/25 Relegation Thread

The reality is majority of our points will comes against the bottom 7/8 sides, we need to target to win the home games and draw away with the odd switched result either

I would class those sides over the course of the season

Southampton
Ipswich
Leicester
Palace
Wolves
Brentford
West Ham

The sides you might have have put in there are forest and Bournemouth but forest have had a great start and Bournemouth also had some great results

We've only played one of them at home and won, away from home we've won 1, drawn 2 and lost one, taking points off those sides at home is important as well, the bad results have undoubtedly been Bournemouth and Southampton but the other results have been ok, not good not bad

We'll probably need to target 25-30 of our points coming from these sides and then the rest with points here and there, IF we beat Brentford then that will be 11 points from these sides after a third of the season (ish) and would be on track, to be clear of relegation we are going to need to pick up some 'unexpected' results which isn't something we've done so far this season

We have the same points as this time last year, with 'matchday 7' being the loss versus Luton. I am curious how the reaction was to that game and if we were already relegated by then too.

reads about the same

There are teams worst than us. We'll be fine

Only about 4-5. Not like previous seasons when you could make a case for most of the bottom half being serious relegation candidates.

Man. United and Newcastle are currently bottom half teams. Bournemouth are 11th and they've just taken 7 points off Arsenal, Villa and Man. City! Perhaps West Ham will be the Leicester of two year's back but I can't see Lopetegui lasting too much long with the rubbish he was serving up for them for 75 minutes yesterday.

I think it's marginal that Leicester are actually worse. They'll be in the mix but they can scrap out results and look through their squad and they have as much proven prem experience as this club has.

This season it does seem like there’s two sides who look doomed, Southampton and Ipswich. As it stands the most likely to join them would be Wolves, Palace, Leicester or us. I think Palace have a good run in them and won’t be in the mud come March/April time. Wolves are on a terrible run but if they pull the trigger on O’Neil, hopefully they get the next manager wrong because they were in a similar situation a few years ago when we were sticking with Lampard and they appointed Lopetegui who got them safe.

Leicester have been getting some results and their manager has that annoying snideness about him that he gets results even when they have been battered. But their squad is worse than the Leicester squad that went down two years ago, and their defence is weak. We need to keep Branthwaite fit because we are clearly a better team when he plays, and we need someone to step up when it comes to goals because DCL is doing what he has done in all the seasons of his career bar one, and that’s not score anywhere near enough goals.

Last week of january i reckon im gona be we'll be ok or we're in serious serious trouble. Brentford and wolves are massive. We've simply got to put points on the board as the fixtures after those two up to 25th of jan are a set of fixtures as tough as i think we've had in a few years.

It’s possible that we will pick up points where we least expect them which has happened in previous seasons but based on recent performances it is difficult to see where our next goal is coming from never mind points

Knowing us we'll probably beat City just because it helps them.

How many of that Forest starting eleven today get straight into ours yesterday? Other than Pickford/Branthwaite and perhaps Ndaye, at least eight go straight in.

And their manager also. Sliding doors moment with him I am beginning to see.
