2024/25 Relegation Thread

A lot is being made of that tough run of fixtures coming up. But to look on the positive.

Liverpool (h) lost this fixture just once in the last 7, winning the last time out

Arsenal (a) lost this in the last minute last season with the goal coming from a handball. Although lost 3 in a row in this one

Chelsea (h) won this fixture 5 times out of the last 6 including last season

Man city (a) lost only 50 percent of the last 2 meetings drawing 1-1 on the penultimate occasion

Baring in mind all of them statistics it wouldn't be unrealistic to think we could pick up points from some of these games

Interesting so actually got a better record in some of these than Wolves at home...any positive spin on that as the recent match ups have not been pretty to say the least!

We are going to have to win a game against a better side and get an unexpected result over the next few weeks

The lack of urgency and desire to go and win games against the lesser sides has been extremely frustrating.
This has happened in the past. We get the odd result against a better team, simply because they attack us more and leave space on the counter attack. That said, we look particularly toothless this season, even by our own low standards.

Letting Dyche influence our spend is a recipe for disaster. No other manager in the league tries to play for a point in almost every game.
This all day. If Dyche is allowed to select who we spend our limited money on, we will get players who Dyche's replacement doesn't want. If, on the other hand, Thellwell brings in players, Dyche will just not pick them. He is a stubborn man with a massive ego our Mr.Dyche.

….be genuinely interesting if the next manager suddenly starts picking the players Thelwell brought in that Dyche doesn’t select. If so, we can expect our team to include the likes of Beto, O’Brien and Chermiti as regular starters.

Probably only Young and Ndiaye guaranteed starters from the players Thelwell acquired, so there appears a disconnect.

Good post. I think we're really going to struggle but these games shouldn't be a write off. Positive results against Brentford and Wolves would really help though.

Another scraping by it looks like.

At least Branthwaite is fit again - perhaps Broja or Chermiti can add something next year and it would be good to have Garner and Tim back.

The ultra risk averse approach might be ok if we'd had a better start but we will have to go out to win games at some point.

Maybe the limbo isn't helping Dyche either - a CBA.

Oh there's a disconnect all right. Thellwell is poor, but Dyche is worse. I hope to see them both gone soon
