2024/25 Relegation Thread

I would strongly suggest that if he gets them safe then it will be at our expense.

I can only see Southampton, Ipswich, Leicester, and us in the real fight. Palace might be dragged in properly if they fail to get out before April. Wolves will move above us in a matter of weeks if not days.

Big chance for Ipswich in next few weeks aswell, got Palace and Bournemouth home, Wolves away in next three weeks.

I really don't think the table is going to look nice at all by Boxing day.

We are in a perfect storm, manager knows his days are limited, lots of players soon to be out of contract , style of play means we don't score goals and we have a very tough run of games not only in December but January too. There either needs to be a dramatic uptake in form/luck/style of play or a new manager and couple of new players with pace in January...be they attacking full backs, wingers who can beat people and cross a ball or deliver a pass or strikers who can put in the back of the net, not asking for much !

They will pick up 3/4 points max imo. There's two 6 pointers in there also, which could help.

Forest away for them next, and then after the 3 you mentioned it's Newcastle (H), Arsenal (A), Chelsea (H), Fulham (A), Brighton (H), City (H), Liverpool (A). They're not gonna pick up many points imo. I think them and Saints will go, I don't think we need to worry about them.

Just my opinion though, and might be proven wrong.

Yep.

It's getting lower and lower by the season, or it feels that way at least.

5 more wins & ~7 more draws and that'll do it I think.
Agreed, if we get 4/5 points in our next 7 games that takes us to 15/16 points at the halfway mark. Duplicate that for the other 19 then we're safe.
I actually think we'll improve second half of a season, we had some horrendous freak games (like Bournemouth) which I don't think will be duplicated.
With the new owners coming in also then we can hopefully strengthen a couple of positions in Jan.

Should be noted that the clubs at the bottom have more points than they did already at this point last season. 9 points and you could be in 15th after 12 games last year. I wouldn’t be confident surviving with only 30/32 points based on the season so far.
Ipswich are still a strange one for me, they have only lost 5 matches, which isn’t a lot for a team most are writing off, and they’ve grinded out some pretty decent points that you wouldn’t expect - Villa, Brighton, Spurs and ManU, but then come out worse against the poorer teams. They’re unpredictable, and still doing better than any of the promoted teams last year, which unsettles me.
Some of their lower league players are also showing signs that they’re improving and adapting with the step up. Others aren’t, but it’s not like they can’t strengthen the squad in January either. Suspect Leicester will do the same if the change in manager has anything to go by. People forget that last years 3 promoted sides were truly dross of which has never been seen before. Poor squads, poor management, continued trying the same thing over and over despite it never working and never changing things when needed ,and with the exception of Burnley, zero resources.

I dont think people are forgetting that mate. I'd say the opposite. People are far more aware that the pool of relegation sides is smaller. And we're in that pool.

Quite alarming really. Wolves and Palace look like they are in a false position, although I would be happy to be proved wrong. If RVN gets Leicester some results, difficult to predict at the moment but feasible, we could find ourselves in a very small pool and drowning

If wolves turn us over at Goodison next week we're in deep do do.
