2024/25 Relegation Thread

I mean you can say that's a great point for Saints but it really doesn't do all that much for them, they have 5 points after 13 games. If the day comes where we are worrying about them then we are already down or somehow 21st in the league.

Especially when 3 of those 5 points came from us :dodgy:

In theory we could be 3rd from bottom before we even play on Sunday as the 3 below us all play tomorrow and can pass us. Doubt they will all win but it isn't impossible.
Actually we could be second from bottom in theory as Crystal Palace would also overtake us on goal difference if they won

Yeah Burnley and Sheffield United got 1-1s at Brighton in first half of last season and didn't do them much good as neither could win home games. Same for Southampton (bar the obvious disaster of losing there a few weeks back).

Southampton are nailed on to go down unless the manager eats humble pie and concedes it’s not going to work getting Championship defenders to pass it around in their own box against PL-level pressing, and occasionally make it as far as a little chip down the line to a Championship wide player under massive massive pressure and boxed in.

They will scrape a couple wins where this strategy pays off due to a random mistake by the opposition, but against most normal PL teams (i.e. all except Everton under Dyche) they are putting philosophy ahead of points. Which is incredibly noble, but cataclysmically stupid.

Hopefully the ref in the Wolves game is quick to reach into his pocket today. See this on Sky
Toti, Nelson Semedo, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Joao Gomes, Marcos Senesi and Justin Kluivert are all on four yellow cards ahead of today's fixture.

If booked this afternoon, they will miss the next game.

Wonder how many we have on 4 yellows?
