2024/25 Relegation Thread

Yep. I think we all feared the worst. Slight ease in the worry about the drop. Still bang in it mind.
Please stick with van nistleroy leicester. I think he's an awful appointment.
Still got a tough run of fixtures up to mid/late jan.
Need to start putting it in the net though. Few 0-0s is ok to start. 1 game scored in since 26th october isnt. Thats two months by time we go to City on boxing day. I mean i know your teams dont score many dyche but thats taking the piss.
For me taking the past two in isolation, I want us to play that way in games against clearly stronger teams. It should be part of adapting your tactics.

It's when we do the same against ten men or relegation rivals at home that it starts to become a problem..

Yes, Dyche got it spot on against Arsenal and Chelsea - as did his players. I am of a generation that saw us as superior to Arsenal and Chelsea, but that's 40 years ago now. Currently, we are fodder against those sides. So, the pragmatist Dyche executed and followed through with the ideal plan. Same again against City.

But against Forest, there needs to be a different plan. Forest are having a good season - but we need to be beating them at home.

40 years ago, we were superior to everyone, including Bayern Munich, yet I can never remember us being superior to arsenal particularly at Highbury.

Still think we're in the mix, but as with the last few years of the relegation scrap sides we look the best. So many sluggish sides this season in the bottom 10, a win or two could spark us up the table.
Definitely still in the mix but...

  1. Against Arsenal we were dire, horrible horrible football but we got a point away at Arsenal, so the end justified the means, sort of.
  2. Against Chelsea were not dire or horrible, and had some chances to nick it, but a decent point.
  3. Two more games before 2025 and hopefully we will not drop into the relegations zone before the turn of the year.
  4. I still think Dyche is dire and want him gone but can see why the new owners may want to keep him here till the end of the season.
  5. I am not considering moving over to the Dychette side.
Wonderful Festive Season to all.

Be safe and stay healthy.

Considering this was our "tough" December, we have picked up 2 points from Arsenal and Chelsea.

Our slow start and poor management has caused this situation but I think with the stability of the takeover and hopefully a few transfers in and out to help aid the squad, we'll be fine by March.

Against the big six, we might get one win at home and enough draws to equate to another win.

12 games and nearly a third of the season that's practically written off before we kick a ball. That's before playing the likes of Newcastle and Villa too.

We are desperately reliant on a limited subset of games at home to get the points we need.

That's where any criticism of Dyche is primarily and correctly focused. Arsenal and Chelsea are bonus points, but only if we win enough home games against the "other 13" and most likely the bottom half teams.

He is great at setting up the team to do what they've done in the last two games, but you do need the occasional win to keep the wolf from the door.
