2024/25 Relegation Thread

Need a new owner. Everything stems from that.

But any hope Dyche might have had of keeping the job into a new regime looks fanciful now.

We are a rudderless ship no leadership and no direction and this stems from the very top.
Needs sorting or we will be playing
Championship football in our new stadium.

They will want rid fairly sharpish, Matty. Any manager who thinks Young, Keane, and Holgate have any business in an Everton squad is begging for the boot.
Yeah, this is the thing, Thelwell has done his job pretty well (within the financial constraints anyway), he's brought in another CB to cover Tarkowski and Branthwaite, he's brought in a winger with a bit of pace, and he's brought in a genuine number ten with some actual football technique. These are all things we needed to improve (not the only things, but some important things), and yet they are sitting on their arses.

Thelwell and the upper management must be thinking, we are working hard to supply you with the tools to improve this team and you aren't using them, and therefore we aren't improving. And if he won't then the only other change they can make is Dyche.

superb

I still don't believe we'll go down. We'll do what we always do. Slightly improve as the season goes on. Have a load of horror shows along the way. Stay outside the bottom three by virtue of them being even crapper then us and then get a tiny purple patch that makes us all believe for a couple of weeks that things might finally get better. Same old story.

Literally anyone can see we need full backs....
Can't be relying on 33 year old Coleman, near 40 year old young (haha) and perma crock Patterson

It's one thing not to rate the new signings - who knows, maybe they are crap - but Dyche isn't even smart enough to play them, expose them, and show the world that they are not up to it (if they aren't).

Instead, he has taken a 3-0 tonking at home to a moderate side no better than us last term with people like Keane, Gueye, Young, and Holgate in the side. In other words, he has placed the blame squarely at his own door. A savvy politician would have played the new boys, exposed them, and could have deflected to Thelwell if they were out of their depth.

At the worst, he could say that they will improve with time and coaching.

As it is, he has nowhere to hide today. That was his team full of his favourites, most of whom are failed Everton players. Or at least they are failed Everton players if your idea of Everton is better than being an upmarket Burnley.

Couldn't agree more. As I said on the Dyche thread, the problem with having a relegation battle specialist as a manager is that they need to get you into one before they can get you out of it. Maybe we can't get out of that cycle with him as manager.

I think we’ll be ok, but that was atrocious obviously. I won’t lie, with this being the last season at Goodison I feel uneasy, especially knowing our luck as Evertonians.

Hopefully Dyche addresses some issues after today starting with Doucoure, he cannot be a starter behind the striker. Let’s recruit a right back, and ideally sell DCL before the window shuts. Anything at Spurs will be a bonus, and then start again against Bournemouth and get the three points.
