2024/25 Relegation Thread

Next few games …

Newcastle (H)
Ipswich (A)
Fulham (H)
Southampton (A)

I think see 5 points from that lot putting us on 9 points after 10 games and about the same league position as we are now.

We won’t be going down but we won’t be miles clear either

If you look at the four games after that it's West Ham away (really poor at home), Brentford at home (like Palace a very good record v them since Dyche came in) and also Wolves at home at start of December.

There are genuinely 5-6 winnable games available over the next two months so do that and it's very comfortable mid table position. Don't and probably just hovering above the bottom 3 with a brutal December and January fixture wise.

I remember two years ago beating Palace 3-0 at home under Lampard and everyone assumed mid table was a given. Instead the next week went and lost 3-0 to Bournemouth the next week and that was the start of the horrendous mid season run that got him the sack eventually.

5 points from that run of games would be really poor imo.

No away wins since December so not sure where the confidence comes from those are gimmes. Just played a newly promoted team away and didn't win it.

Newcastle and Fulham at home last season was three points. Newcastle up and down but still have plenty of quality in final third (hopefully Isak is still injured) and Silva got an amazing record at Goodison in last few years, Fulham also playing well currently.

I think many on this forum would see 5 points from next 4 games as slightly above par perhaps as could easily lose a couple if not on it from the start like the first half yesterday.

I wouldn't see 5 points as really poor anyway.

Well the fact we haven’t won away since December is also really poor, and the fact we didn’t beat Leicester is also really poor. 5 points from those fixtures would be poor in my opinion.

Predicting fixtures is always pointless. We beat Newcastle Chelsea Liverpool at home last season in fixtures no one would have predicted we’d win. We lost to Luton at home. There’s just not much point in trying to do it.

27 points kept you up last season. Think it'll be higher than that this year.

I agree, but it you look at 20/21 it was 29 points to stay up, 21/22 it was 36 points to stay up and 22/23 it was 35 points to stay up.

In my mind I always target 40 points at the start of the season, but I think it’s been a long time since that was the actual number to stay up.

It’s too early to know, but I will still say 40 points, until we get further into the season.
