2024/25 Relegation Thread

I agree, but it you look at 20/21 it was 29 points to stay up, 21/22 it was 36 points to stay up and 22/23 it was 35 points to stay up.

In my mind I always target 40 points at the start of the season, but I think it’s been a long time since that was the actual number to stay up.

It’s too early to know, but I will still say 40 points, until we get further into the season.

The last time 40 points were needed to stay up was the 2010/11 season - Birmingham went down on 39 with Wolves surviving on 40. More often than not, 40 points is more than enough to stay up.

My opinion hasn’t changed though that we should be aiming for 50 points minimum this season.

For all the talk of a much stronger league this year, our win yesterday is the only win in the current bottom 6, with 35 matches played between us. Another win or two in the next run of games will go a very, very long way.
Still think the league is poor can easily get mid table by being very average, you would like to think now with players coming back we can get more points we have changed so many key areas already not keeping the same back 4 or midfield.

Ipswich didn't look bad against Villa, Liverpool and City.

So did Luton mostly in the last season against better teams, RS drew in adding time, they led against City and also Arsenal late loss for example, but then struggled against the on paper easier games.

They'll slide during Christmas/New Year. Guarantee it.

Early days but have ipswich nicked one in delap?
Basically around the same price(with add ons) we stumped up for Beto i think.

Southampton bid 15m for him two years ago but he wasn't ready for the prem, is now.

I'd have taken Ogbene for the right so that's a solid signing and Jack Clarke on the left been one of the better wide players in the championship last few years, certainly as good as Gnotto last year.

Ipswich conceded two soft goals but aside from it Villa hardly created a chance so their defence isn't quite the walking mistake that Burnley and Sheffield United were last year.

They've certainly got a chance to be in the 33-36 point range imo. They'll get more points than Luton did.
