2024/25 Relegation Thread

Southampton are gone already.

Seen enough from us that we'll be comfortably better off than Leicester & Ipswich as well if I'm being honest. Probably at least a couple others too.

Yep, Southampton have City and Arsenal, aswell as Leicester in their next 3 games. Can see them being firmly at the bottom after 10.

I see your point.. but I said the exact same for Sheff Utd last season and this Southampton side are similar.

If they carry on the way they are they've got no chance. Russel Martin strikes me as similar to Vincent Kompany last season for Burnley: stick with the 'philosophy' even though you're getting battered every other week and giving away horrible goals.

It's early enough in the season for anyone to feasibly turn it around, it boils down to how soon do they bin off Russel Martin? And when they do inevitably twist, do they go with a similar 'brand' of manager as replacement or do they get someone with some pragmatism rather than blind faith to the 'philosophy'?

3rd season in a row now after 6 games we have been on 4 points

The seventh game last season was a 3-0 home win over Bournemouth. Ninth game was a 1-0 win away to West Ham.

22/23 seventh game was 1-0 win over West Ham and the eighth was 2-1 at Southampton.

Vital to get a couple more wins in the next four as then you can legitimately say you're in the mid table pack compared to being one bad result away from dropping back into the bottom three.

Branthwaite back gives a bigger possibility but the big test now is to sort out the CM selection.
