2024/25 Relegation Thread

Difficult to say any games an easy opportunity. Bournemouth, Leicester and Southampton (cup) were what many would say easy opportunities and look how that turned out. Teams will attack and try to win because we can’t score, that includes Ipswich and the ones after that, especially away.
The 20th, 19th, 17th, 14th, 12th, 11th teams in a 7 match stretch? Name an easier opportunity. The better teams will ALSO try and attack and win.

Technically easy opportunity on paper but this is Everton, we don’t do easy. See where we are after those games and hopefully we’re a few places above the drop zone with breathing space. We may even beat a few of the better sides.

It's the easiest on paper, but watching them in the match matches so far, they look better than Burnley or Sheffield last season.

I don't expect them to be fodder...

Southampton is an easier one to win I reckon. Press them and they'll gift away chances. Also don't think they have as much in attack as Ipswich who already have Liam Delap on four goals from about five and a bit games.

Don't win either and it's really hard to see an away win any time soon. West Ham, Man. United, Arsenal and Man. City to end the year so it's paramount four points from next two aways really otherwise it just piles the pressure on the home games already.

Have to be winning the Southampton one at minimum. We should have a stronger team out compared to the cup game against them at least but we need to get at them as you say.

I'm not sure teams look at games against city or the rs at home and think they'll be banking points, tbh.
Not teams like city arsenal liverpool but like of spurs brighton fulham united even like wolves yesterday is not saying eill definatley win but should be the target.
we have to get results soon we need a gap if possible december is horrific

if we keep this donkey expect us with no cushion to go bottom after those games in december
One game at a time wouldnt be worrying about games till they happen, had enough of that the last 3 seasons.

Looking at the competition:

- Forest have proven they have more to them than most expected. Look a solid unit and can pick up points in unlikely places. Anfield win aside, they've gone to Brighton and Chelsea and come away with something.
- Wolves up until yesterday were looking good in games, but deemed 'unlucky'. Next two games are City (H) and Brighton (A) so could conceivably be on 1 point after 9 games. Not irredeemable but definitely puts them in need of "overachieving" in the next three quarters of the season. They'll be down there, no question.
- Ipswich I see as this year's Luton. Home form will be key to them.
- Southampton I think will finish rock bottom
- Palace maybe contenders? I'd be surprised to be fair, but I guess it shows the strength of the league.
- Leicester. These are the ones that worry me. These are better than the three promoted sides last year IMO. Can see them getting 8-10 wins.
- Brentford I think will have periods where they flirt with danger but will be more than fine. Seem to rise above adversity with injuries and will also have Toney money to spend in Jan?

Positive note, I can honestly see us finishing above all of the above. But it's precarious and the lack of goals + Branthwaite's injury issues are a major worry.

I think Bournemouth are likely to be involved more than Brentford. Mbuemo is a crucial player for them.

It's a good summary. When people are saying half the league is rubbish are they missing Forest looking miles better defensively than last season? 4 points from Chelsea and RS away is outstanding and they also got a draw at Brighton with 10 men which is good when you see Spurs collapse there. They've already got 8 points from away games which is more than they got in whole of 22/23.

Brentford weren't great last season but they already have 10 points from their first 4 home games so will likely stay up on home form alone.

Fulham also look better than last season, could've scored 4 at Man. City yesterday and comfortably beat Newcastle.

Of course a team can start well and then drop mid season (this club in 21/22) but to me the bottom 6 will be the promoted clubs and Palace, Wolves and yours truly so need to concentrate on finishing top of that mini league.

Wolves doing you a favour this year along with Southampton, Ipswich and Palace, think the bottom 4 will be around the same come next May.

Leicester have no been good this season and we should have got 3 points from them, bournemouth the same havent looked that good and another game we should have won. Forest dont think is much between them and us while they have had a full fit squad we have been unlucky having to change most games. Wolves have alot of problems even tho have had a hard start with games fans already turning on owners and manager is hard to turn around. Will it be great for us this season prob not but with hopefully players coming back from injury and then with hopefully the takeover getting done we can also bring more players in for january

The gap between the Premiership and Championship side is huge particularly played out over a full season.

As with last season, the three that came up will be ripe for going straight back down albeit another couple of sides will flirt with the drop. Wolves would be my favourite to be part of the relegation fight. I think that Palace have some outstanding players and can't see them continuing to struggle. Us? We'll be fine and once Branners is back we'll move up towards mid table.

Next season; new owners (hopefully), new ground (definitely) and a new manager (required)
