2024/25 Relegation Thread

I see no reason why we shouldn’t be going to Ipswich looking to win
They'll be looking to bounce back after the international break to claim their first league win of the season. Dyche and the players will know just how much of a sucker-punch it'll be for Ipswich if they come out of the blocks next Saturday raring to go only to concede inside the first 10 minutes to us. If we play our cards right, 3 points are more than up for grabs. We've already gotten off the mark and have taken 5 points from our last 3 games, our confidence should be high and we're now starting to look up the table. The pressure will very much be on Ipswich that day.

Early days but I’m fairly certain the three that came up will go straight back down.

Palace will be fine and Wolves have got a few good players but I think they’ll have a nervy season.

Wolves have only played one team outside of last years top 10 (if I remember rightly) so it’s hard to judge them yet.

The Wolves squad isn't as good as the Leicester one that went down in 22/23.

Cunha is a good player but he picks up injuries and they don't have as much either side as last season with Pedro Neto on the other side, Hwang has also badly lost form after his purple patch last winter.

Basically in last 18 months the spine of Sa-Dawson-Lemina-Cunha has kept them up. Sa been dropped for Sam Johnstone which I think has made them weaker, Dawson in and out with injury and their other CBs are average and Lemina not playing that well and admitted that himself after Brentford.

I think they'll be down there all season. Potentially will probably have one point from first nine so in that scenario you have to win a third of the games left to have any hope of staying up.

That happened at Leicester though (going one up in first ten) and then generally sat back. Ipswich have far more about them in final third so really need Branthwaite out there. Don't see a clean sheet in this one but then I was wrong about the Newcastle game.

Really need to be winning one of the next three aways as going through the whole of 2024 without one prem away win would be pretty embarrassing. Has that ever happened before?

The season is long, far too early to write anyone off or anyone as safe. There's seasons where you see teams away from the mess at Christmas and then dragged back in and end up relegated. There’s others where a team at the bottom of the table change manager, make a signing, get a player back fit and suddenly win a few in a row after not winning for months before.

It’s just extremely early days.

The league in general has taken a massive drop in quality since that season. The teams that come up just aren’t premier league quality any more.

Leeds are currently the only team that I think could come up and actually stay in the league but even then after another season in the championship I’m not quite sure about that either.

Sunderland would be an interesting team coming up, they have some of the highly rated youngsters in the game with Chris Rigg and Jobe Bellingham so add a couple of experienced prem players and they'd have a decent chance.

Sums up the championship that I tipped Coventry for automatic promotion given how Mark Robins has built them up in last five years and some of their cup performances against prem teams and they're 1 point above the bottom 3 after nearly a quarter of the season!

Luton also having a hangover after relegation. They're probably the relegated team you thought would be quickest to get over last season but shows how competitive the championship is.

Think the best cb they have mosquera or something is out for the season so dont really have much cover at cb after they sold killman to west ham. Was shocked see oneils record thought it was much better. Think it will be tough for alot of teams this season
