2nd test Everton Under-21s V Bolton Wanderers B

Got the train over, walked from James Street, took me 25 minutes and I am 67, near 68. That also involved scooting round all the half marathon people who were absolutely everywhere when I got off the train. The hold ups getting through the wall gates were mostly down to people stepping inside and stopping to have a wow moment. The delays getting through the turnstiles into the ground was mostly down to people leaving it to the last minute, so they could get a good look around before they went in. Everywhere I went all I saw was smiling faces.

I reckon that once people sort their route out (I know mine now) and there is no more ‘sight-seeing’ it will all run much, much smoother.

I was very i pressed with the lad Heath, (no.7), very busy, always looking to carry the ball forward. the number 10 was tidy too but looked tiny next to the big grocks in the Bolton defence. I was underwhelmed with Sherrif though, the lad marking him was massive and bullied him throughout, but he didnt seem to click and kept trying to match him, instead of staying away from him and playing around him.

our #6 impressed me, was tidy in possession, offered for the ball, mopped up nicely.

As for making “hundreds of thousands” today, those 25k will be at future games too. Wasn’t like 25k people were turning up for their only time of attending a game there.

Plenty of money was being spent in the concourse. Spent enough of it myself.
So you don’t think if Everton had the foresight to introduce merchandise that was only available for the test event it would have sold?

Unlike the first event I know quite a few non season tickets holders made this one , I don’t think it’s catastrophic but like you I do think
it’s a missed opportunity.

That merchandise will come when the stadium opens properly, which means everyone will have the chance to buy it - not just a portion of the people who go every week as it is

If Everton sold naff t-shirts saying 'second test event, I was there' then they'd have made a few quid, sure, but that isn't worth risking selling proper merch to celebrate the opening for all

There'll be an official event and a match to go with it to open the stadium properly. It'd be amazing for it to be Bayern, and get the 80's side in to open it.

Program, kit, ticket, a full days work.

We parked on Walter st carpark ( next to Titanic hotel) got there 12pm drove straight in off Great Howard st and then straight out at the end, no delays at all, down to Leeds street and home to Huyton in 20/25 minutes.
Added a change to the pricing board though,
" Event parking " which cost us £15 today
There was 5 of us so £3 each
Surely you didnt actually split it 3 pound each 😂😂😂

that plaza will be something else on match day. no smoking though for anyone looking for a dart with a few coronas

was in row 12 of the south stand and by god it was impressive
