Without wanting to forget all the pre-WC and off-field issues, it's been a very enjoyable WC. Arguably, one of the best?
I wanted not to watch, I don't like any of that the qataris stand for or behave like, but theres been some quality games, a lot of on field drama (good and bad) with some goals for the ages. It's been helpful that the game times have been convenient. infantino can fudge himself twice over, the smug little parasite.

(Mex US Can 2026 will hopefully learn a lot from this WC and have games played in respective time zones as friendly as possible to 'home' audiences)

Surprised more hasn't been made of the booze ban, I wonder if Budweiser will get a badge on the ball next time round...

If France can annihilate argentina tomorrow it will be very sweet indeed. To this fixture, it's a shame we all have to get old because the next round of Croatia players are gonna have to go some going to measure up with this crop.

Hard to judge it without seeing the final. Certainly well above-average so far, with the two knocks being 'no good teams' and a turgid start to the group stages where Spain and England stole all the goals from a bunch of other matches. Those problems resulted in a last group stage round where almost every match mattered, since hardly anyone was eliminated, and a lot of competitive, knife-edge knockout games.

A ridiculous final could haul the tournament up towards the top of the heap on the pitch; a poor one knocks the whole affair down a couple of pegs.
