6 + 2 Point Deductions

"Everton have been lucky to get the points deduction in a season where they're likely to still get well clear".

THE most clueless cliche there's been today.

This team cant do a 40 point season much less a 50 point season.

All the positivity is based on the last few - unrepresentative - winning performances.

We are in the worst trouble we've been in for the last three seasons. This is a far greater existential threat than going into the last 2 games or last game of a season with it still in our hands. It's a way greater threat.
Revel in it Dave. This is your time to shine.

Yes. B'mouth or Fulham maybe. But we're now in a position where we have to bank on that.
How do we have to bank on anything Sheff U, Burnley and Luton have won 3 from 36 games between them. We are levels above all three clubs and are in good form. If anything the deduction will galvanise us.

Sheff Utd, Burnley and Luton will be lucky to get 40 pts between them let alone just one.
I reckon 25 pts could easily see a team safe this season.
I think we’ll be ok, but not nearly as comfortably as most seem to think. If our current form continued we’d end up in the Europa League. We just aren’t that good, and have little pockets of proper nasty games ahead. I think we could easily be on 5 points after the next 3 games. United took more points than anyone in October I think despite the “noise”. 5 points after 15 would be putting huge reliance on NONE of the promoted teams sneaking a couple of wins. The pressure mounts, performances spiral etc etc.

Siege mentality is brilliant for the fans. Much harder for the players. They’ve already performed to their max over recent weeks. Don’t think they have another gear. Took a commemorative DVD worthy match to beat Palace. And 6 weeks ago there was genuine talk of sacking Dyche. If we revert to 1 point per game, which is totally possible, it will be close. Should be fine, but close.

The pressure there's going to be put on them to punish other teams will make them buckle. There's no way they'll want to punish City or Chelsea this hard.
Well Chelsea might be different, their owners have put forward the evidence so I guess there might be mitigation for that.

But I expect City to be relegated to non-league. Much of the punishment in our case was for essentially trying to mislead the premier league. City have got that on steroids.

I can see a more cohesive everton team at the moment, we have more resilience up top than the lone Maupey of recent seasons so whilst your point on DCL staying fit is valid, it wouldn't be as catastrophic as it has been the last two seasons.
Look where we are mate. Rock bottom with Burnley. To expect this lot to go out and rack up another 34-36 points to give us a chance of staying up is insane.

That's not going to happen, so we're going to have to hope that Sheff Utd, Luton and Burnley don't get near another 30 points. ATM that looks a tall order for them, but I would say it's likely that one of them will get their act together and go on a run. Then we'll see panic at this club.

I see us panicking and cracking.

We know that can very very very easily happen. And Luton have picked up some form of late...and I definitely don't expect Burnley to keep on being beaten.

At LEAST one of the three promoted clubs will get their act together...and then we're fighting for dear life to get clear.
Just to give context to the kind of pick up in form you are expecting from those 3 teams, if our form improved to the same extent for the rest of the season we’d finish on 61 points.

I’m sure form will improve but to the extent that you think? Even if it did, we’d still have to drop off.

Effectively we have to be better than the other 3 by 2 points over the next 26 games. Why you think that is a mammoth task based on what we’ve seen so far I honestly don’t know.

We could be as rubbish as last year and if the other 3 don’t improve form, we’d finish about 10 points ahead of them all.

That’s the gulf we are talking. It’s as likely that Brentford will get a champions league place this year.

This appeal will have to happen quickly. The PL cannot have the season end with the appeal still pending, as if we’re involved with the bottom three then it’ll be a calamitous ending to the season. They’d be a global laughing stock.

I’d love a suspended application of the points, as long as we keep our noses clean. Not going to happen though, best case is reduction to 6pts.
I'd put a decent proportion of my left bollock on 6 pts being the final outcome on this.

And we would accept it and move on as it can be managed this year. That's what the PL are banking on to 'show they can regulate', whilst not upsetting the apple cart for those that really matter.

https://www.lawcareers.net/Solicitors/Pinsent-Masons-LLP - 69 vacancies if that is the firm they look bog-standard .....

Where's Rex Makin's law firm when you need them ..... they have a no win no fee too ....
They will have subsidiary side companies doing all sorts of banal stuff like ppi mis-sell etc etc but Pinsent Masons as a firm are ok from my experience working with them years back, albeit not in a sporting law capacity.

Disagree.
I think our survival looks a formality.

there are 4 far far worse teams. 10 point deduction and we’re only a win off safety. Pull yourself together you great pansy.

Is our punishment just a points deduction or is there restrictions on us buying players etc. also?
The harshest punishment we could have is to let Moshiri and Uncle Uz open their checkbooks up for more players and managers.

So no, no restrictions on buying players. Not that it matters as we really can’t anyway and the club in under contract for sale.
