6 + 2 Point Deductions

The game is gone really. It’s sad. I mean money always helped but a decent manager and a few canny signings could turn a club round in the old days. Not so much now.

I nearly choked on my cornflakes this morning doing the PL true or false quiz which basically made it out that Chelsea had won more league titles than Arsenal because clearly anything before the PL existed didn’t happen.

So, in a way I guess I’d not mind if the PL went belly up.

I’m getting there mate, I actually don’t view winning the league as a prize any more in all honesty, honestly couldn’t have told you who was top of the meagre with a couple of games to go. The Romance and integrity is gone, it’s not a competition anymore.

The only thing that can save it is something like a cap or a draft - but it’s very hard to do in the PL as the football market in global and your also competing against different leagues.

I just feel things are a forgone conclusion, like what chance do we have of winning the league again, is it realistic ……I’m not sure it is, I don’t know how you compete with the resources, even with us being owned by billionaires.

+ it’s still just a panel, agreeing with a point made by City, there is no actual rule, yet

Emergency meeting of the PL clubs has been organised for next Thursday. ;)

The significance of this when you break it down, is actual Cival war, the PL board, who act on behalf of the shareholders - clubs - are in court against their own shareholder's.

It’s bonkers and there will be blood…eventually.

Remember these are PL rules that are being brought into disrepute not European rules. However this works with the PL clubs will still have to sit within those rules within European competitions which may still cause a problem as how can teams from a league based outside of Europe have any real say on those rules? It could be that if it really kicked off UEFA expelled all English clubs from any European competitions. Only a possibility i know but it doesn't necessarily open up the floodgates for a massive overspend by certain clubs. The next few years could be very interesting or boring depending on your perspective.

England is still in Europe mate, just not the EU.

Still governed by UEFA and laterally FIFA - that’s a whole different story.

Thanks mate but England is definitely not in Europe we are governed football wise by UEFA but England is definitely not in Europe and if UEFA wanted they could remove us from European competition not saying this is likely but it depends how dirty this gets as to how far this is pushed thats all I'm saying.

England is a European country geographically, we're just not part of it's decisions making group. We are in fact Europe's largest island.

How? What does “toast” mean in this context? Some of our best players leaving to join Super League clubs doesn’t qualify as toast by the way.

Hahahahah WHAT
If a super league happened interest in the Premier league would plummet. Consequently so would tv revenue. We are staying afloat by borrowing against future revenue at or above it's current level.

It's the same reason we could fold if we went down. We could be ok for a season but if we got trapped down there with stadium debts and a huge wage bill the club would be in big trouble.

We are in a particularly vulnerable position due to the stadium. Also our wage bill is a lot higher than our rivals down the bottom end of the table.

Luckily, I doubt a super league will happen and we should stay up. But to think everything is fine and rosy is delusional.
