They were never suing. It was always compensation as per the rule books. It’s just the journalists and media are too think to understand the difference.

If they are withdrawing their claims it's not out of the goodness of their hearts, it's because they've been advised that they won't be able to establish causation between our overspend and their relegation, particularly when three of them are trying to claim it.

At most we should be offering them 1 place worth of prize money as compensation.

They know that only Burnley have any standing as the charge was from that season. If they negotiate, they all get something, if they don’t, only Burnley, and realistically, it wouldn’t be all that much anyway as parachute payments limit the damage of being relegated.

We could probably argue that if we had not had any money from Moshiri and had just carried on with the same old same old we would have finished higher rather than one place above the drop zone. We are basically moving into magical thinking with these potential compo claims. Which is why i think they will go nowhere, just more noise and posturing.

For them to have any chance of making a successful claim, they'd need to prove that their loss of earnings was directly related to Evertons breach and that there was an unfair sporting advantage gained.

That's an incredibly difficult thing to prove with the amount of variables that could be thrown at it to disprove their hypothesis, the claim doesn't have a leg to stand on (not to mention the clubs being mentioned stayed up the season in which the breach occured). It's definitely not through the goodness of their hearts, it's because they know they don't have a leg to stand on.

I sort of hope they still push. Televise the compo discussions. The second it’s decided teams got relegated when it should have been us, Leicester don’t get a penny as we wouldn’t have been in the PL. So not only could we not be blamed for their relegation, we didn’t affect their position either.

Very minor compensation would be only acceptable if we have points deduction wiped/suspended. Not having both. The penalty is supposed to damage us going forward, not having us punished for the past and future. It’s football for gods sake not Ally McBeal.
