6 + 2 Point Deductions

I reckon we'll be bummed again tomorrow. Hope it's just five points and hope others fall foul too as we can't afford to drop 4 points into the drop zone having played a game more.

Thing with it all though, even if we are pulled again, (imo we won't, but that means nowt) then ig still doesn't stop the ridiculousness of it, as going from.waht was said as an outcome of ours, there has been no precedent set nor is there yet an agreed framework.

It is entirely plausible that us, Forest and Wolves get found to have overspent by the same amount, yet Forest get fined £20m, Wolves get fined £5m and we get a 7 point deduction.

There would be nothing illegal about that, nor could we take it beyond the same group of people that dealt with each of the cases.as an appeal. That's just a single example of how messed up all of this is.

Yes but reality is he wouldn't bother if it was Bournemouth. He'll be careful about his reputation and wouldn't just make noise with no foundation.
Oh and he is totally correct, the new statement is very well written and not whiney. And good of them to be arsed to throw their head above the parapet. But end of the day it’s 3 extra Everton fans saying the same thing thousands of Everton fans have been saying since November. PL will not be remotely arsed. The uproar has already happened.

It is appreciated though.

100%. They are our numbers. 3 years of the 4 are already “agreed” following the last referral. And the 22/23 period closed 6 months ago. Always a bit of fannying around after the closing date, but even our intrepid accounts department will have known both the statutory and PSR profit or loss for months.
The club might know the numbers but I doubt they know what horse dung the PL are going to pull out of their arses.. maybe they'll decide that only 90% of new stadium build can be disregarded.

Sorry what, how?

It’s two separate accounting years. We were guilty of the first year, and I think we expect the outcome of the second. Others will fall foul, too.
Applying punishment in the same year doesn't seem fair, though. For a rule that was introduced to protect clubs from going out of business, they seem to be doing their best to kill us.

You’re right, to an extent. The issue however has been the Covid lag, which they’ve done their best to catch up with. Now it’s a rolling process.

Other clubs or other years?
Both. This is for another financial year, but I wouldn’t be surprised if two or three other clubs get a similar letter tomorrow.

I reported numbers to a US parent for a company many times the size of a football club on 9th Jan (31/12 year end). The loss is what it is. We tell the PL, they don’t tell us.

so wel be ok?

Oh absolutely. Don’t think we have any mitigation cards left to play, so it should be cut and dried. But entirely possibly the PL will say Lampards termination fee has to be tripled for PSR coz he is friends with Rishi. Important that at this stage we are talking about the bent PL, not a supposedly independent panel. No amount of scummyness is beneath them.
