We know what’s the reality but I doubt that’s going to be their legal argument - I just can’t see an angle other than whatever money we did spend allowed us to about relegation.

Burnley got relegated because they didn't get enough points and over the course of the season they were not good enough to stay up and finished where they deserved to it's nobody's fault but their own and has absolutely nothing to do with Everton whatsoever.

I agree completely, was just wondering why they think they have a case unless they just think it’s a free swing. One thing’s for sure as petty as I am if they come up next year they wouldn’t be getting any hospitality from me

Think it safe to say, Nothing will come of this. If (and it's a huge if) we somehow loose this, It opens the door for every team in the prem having issues with City and others who have fraudulently won titles etc over the Premier leagues time in charge to come out the woodwork.

I'm not sure tbh but I'd guess West Ham probably felt there was no case to answer against Sheffield United as well.

They played an illegal player (or multiple in their case I believe) and knew about it, to gain a sporting advantage. We thought we were in compliance but the PL and then a judge thought otherwise. This itself was subjective as different judges handed different penalties, until the one that presided over Forest basically said don't know why we were handed such a penalty. Whatever we served a sporting penalty because of it.

Just because we weren't charged that season due to different factors isn't our responsibility.

Not sure how those clubs can prove we are guilty of anything? The independent commission found we gained no sporting advantage, so it would have to be some turnaround. Especially when half of those teams achieved the lowest points totals for the bottom 3 teams. Seems like a non-story.

I'd take it that TFG are satisfied with the limit on the potential liability and whatever advice they've been given regarding that.

Because it's Everton, the judgement will go against us and we'll have to pay something.

I saw a figure today of £10m which would be outrageous. That would be a tidy percentage of our summer budget.

I just don’t see how they prove causation - regardless of us, they also finished behind Leeds who they failed to catch. They also kept faith with a manager who was taking them down until April and the 30th game of the season. We had the same manager, and sacked him on or around the 18th game of the season, which illustrates similar scenarios faced by both clubs over different seasons, but how reactive Burnley were. It feels like they are attempting to make us the scapegoat of their utter failure to take a decisive action.

Tevez scored the goals that made the difference. Pretty clear cut that one tbh.

Causation is almost impossible to prove. There's far too many assumptions. A decent KC should have this dealt with in about five mins. However, it's a PL kangaroo court, so god only knows what will happen.
