Writing on his Patreon blog journalist Alan Nixon claims that Andy Bell and George Downing could take up ownership of the newEverton Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock

"Everton super fans Andy Bell and George Downing are ready to make a rescue move to save the club’s future. The duo are keen to strike an agreement with Americans 777 Partners that would see them take over the new ground at Bramley-Moore Dock.

"And that would allow 777’s bid for ownership of the club although they would only become tenants when they eventually leave Goodison.

"Bell is big in the pensions and finance world while Swiss-based Scouser Downing has massive property interests. They have been allies for years. The pair are owed millions from 777 Partners after ploughing in cash. They would waive that huge sum in return for the stadium.

"A deal would also meet one of the main requirements laid down by the Premier League before they pass the 777 takeover.

"Current owner Farhad Moshiri could even become one of the partners who have a stake in the ground which is going to be used for many events and not just football.

"It would leave Everton’s next owners as guests at the new ground but that may be the best way out of their present problems. Bell and Downing are not keen on owning and funding the club although they would step in if 777 ran into trouble down the line."
That's the one, I am an old technophobe and did not know how to post it on here. Cheers.

Things don`t add up with this story...

A 1/4 billion pound stadium sold off for relative peanuts

Does the agreement with Peel include the stadium staying owned by Everton

The club will have extra season tickets and attendance but all non match day revenue goes and we have to pay rent, all the monetary advantage of moving to a new bigger stadium, gone... literally no point in moving, we stay exactly where we are meaning that debts, crippling interest, relegation scraps, stress and points deductions has been or absolutely nothing.

All to get 777 in... I got a better idea, leg the skint chancers! 777 must be stopped at all costs, can the 777 apologists/supporters open their eyes.

The MSP loan is secrured against the stadium company and 50.1% of blue heaven holding - Moshiris shares.

The lease apparently says that the land is leased to Everton stadium company but Everton stadium company - which ownes BMD - doesnt have to remain under the ownership of Everton football club.

By the sound of the above, a deal may be being explored to wipe the MSP debt, some capital goes to 777, they get the equity of the club and MSP - Bell, Downing get the ground - everyone's a winner except the club - keeping in mind Moshiri has a stake in MSP.

The club would be paying fees etc for the use of the ground, loose the incresed commercial matchday captial etc.

Be a manure show, all of the adversity we've been through, points deductions and all, to get it built would be worthless to us and for nothing, be better off staying at Goodison.

That can only be a good thing, if 777 don't own BMD then they can't borrow against it and at least the stadium is owned by 2 blues rather than some dodgy yanks.
I’ve got to admit I’m not particularly clued up on these issues, but not sure how that’s a good thing….I appreciate we won’t have to pay the ‘mortgage’ on the stadium and we would be in less debt, but I wouldn’t have thought we won’t derive any income from additional events and we will have ended up in the same position we could have been in 20 years ago just leasing from the council.

It very much depend on how much we have to pay to use the stadium...wouldn't 777 own part of the stadium? Any extra income from commercial deals, non sporting events, etc...I guess will still go to everton especially if we have to pay a fee to use the stadium.

We would have no value as a club. We don't own the training ground, we wouldn't own the stadium and our squad is worth about 50p. We could be the first premier league club that was worthless.

Yeah my view of these rumoured proposals is that it would not be a very good long term commercial deal for Everton, but if this is correct and it does happen, does anyone know what commercials benefits the likes of Man City and West Ham have in their lease agreements?

I know West Ham take a large share of the profits in relation to hospitality and catering in terms of the London stadium, Id expect similar with City.

So BMD wouldnt be owned by the club.

This would be absolutely horrific, be massively against this.

Vultures selling off the valuable cargo while the ship sinks.
Well the numbers on the deal don’t really appear to stack up so I’m not reading too much into it.

But while it sounds a scary prospect all prospects just now are a bit scary. If 777 do take over then the prospect of them owning the club and the stadium is also scary knowing the issues they have.

Maybe- and I’m not saying for sure- Downing and Bell becoming custodians of the stadium might actually safeguard against something worse in the short-medium term. We know that “lifelong Evertonian” doesn’t always mean putting Everton ahead of business interests but there is some long term interest in Everton’s financial and footballing success there.

It automatically sounds worse that “the club” wouldn’t own the stadium. But whether it actually would be worse very much depends on who owns the club in the first place. If the club = 777 it might be better to not have their mitts near it.

But a massive pinch of salt on the story, although clearly Bell and Downing are big players in this now.

Would be the most Everton thing ever for Kenwright to have vetoed King's Dock because he didn't want to relinquish control, have us wait 25 years for another opportunity, build a fantastic stadium, then reap absolutely none of the benefits of it because the club had been run into the ground and we needed to sell it off before even moving in.

Convinced Kenwright was a Liverpool fan his entire life and dedicated 30 years to destroying Everton to the brink of ruin.
He stood in the Boys pen you know .....

Disagree mate, whats the point in moving?

It is and always has been to create increased revenue for the club, to enable us to compete and grow - it would be horrific for the club to sell it.

Thats just on a day to day basis.

Long term, it decreases the overall value of the club.

We just become a brand or franchise, with exposure to PL football, thats a Shakey position for the welfare of the club. It also devalues the club and makes it less attractive to investors, or attractive to more bottom feeder investors as they get exposure to a PL cheaper - or access under terms they wouldn't be able to usually - like 777.

All this is - is pigs at the trough, Moshiri, 777, MSP Bell and Downing - decoupling the clubs assets from the club for their own personal wealth and gain, making the club a vassal and undermining its potential future.

If Bell and Downing are the white knights many would hint that they are as "life long blues" - then take operational control of the club, keep the assets with the club and recover it - thats well within in their grasp given the security they have - if they choose it - this option isnt that - which suggests its driven by self interest for their own betterment.

Sorry im not reconciling this one bit. If true of course................

Fair enough mate, it’s such a vague and iffy sounding article it’s barely worth even debating the possibility when the basic premise doesn’t seem to stack up.
