I'm a lurker, have been for a while. An old guy from western Canada who likes to chat. I've been reading long enough to know I'll probably not be welcome, but if there's a chance, I'll take it. Nobody in my family cares for the game like I do, so I come to the message boards. Not a fan of echo chambers, and I know how to be polite in another's house. If you're willing to let me have a chance to stick around and participate, I would much appreciate it.

Was surprised. Love the guy myself, but knew he'd never be welcomed by the majority of Everton. Sad to say, but the Friendly Derby is long behind us. Much like politics, polarization is a little more extreme these days.

Also think Rafael has a huge blind spot for people's emotions. He's smart as a whip, but a little too ones and zeros. Looks like he figured he'd be able to overcome the emotional side of the relationship with success, and he may yet, but I don't see it happening soon enough.

IMO, Ragnick should be the one in your head office. Should have offered him the reins and a 5 year term, carte blache. Conte would have been my second choice. They both would have been a better choice, but Rafael would have still been in the top five as far as project-type managers go.

Never been before. RedFloyd is a nick my daughter came up with because she preferred Red to Pink, and we used to listen every morning on the way to daycare. Bruce Grobbelaar played for my Whitecaps back in '80/'81 and I've always been a goalie nut. Followed him to Crewe, and to Anfield. Hooked as a kid. Way she goes, and too late to change now.

Hold no hate for the Toffees. My scum wears devils, as they've been the cream most of my life. Hockey was the main focus of our rivalries around here, but the NHL lost me after 2011. Didn't occur to me until lately to look beyond Reddit for better way to chat with other fans, and that site has it's own issues.

Have to admit the game today was what brought me out of the woodwork. I know better than to show my head in the match thread, especially during play, but there will be plenty of time afterwards for conversation, no?

Derbies are derbies. I expect us to play cautiously, and I expect you to play passionately. I'd bet on at least 6 cards, at least one of which is red. A draw wouldn't surprise me at all. Form doesn't mean everything in one of these, especially at Goodison. Extra-especially since you guys took us at Anfield last Feb. Fingers crossed that nobody needs a stretcher, and let the result be what it may.
