The good folk here at GOT like to chat, but you'll probably also be told to fork off a few times as well. Especially given the result most expect today. But we have a few here from your neck of the woods, maybe someone will pop in and say hello.
Wouldn't be my first time pounding sand. Thick skin has carried me far. Thanks for the warning. No scorch marks yet.

Hey, if anyone wants to pat me on the head, look up the Vancouver Canucks and their 51 year journey of ineptitude. Still a fan.

And for the record, I was a CB for 14 years. My teams didn't win anything. Who I cheer for doesn't make me who I am.
Senators fan here from a couple of years spent in Ottawa years ago.

I remember listening to game seven of the '94 series on armed services radio. Really wanted the Canucks to win, McLean, Linden and Bure. Great team.

Welcome to the forum.

I had to do game 7 on the radio as well, work wouldn't let me go. Jim Robson kept me company that night. Always a spot for a Sens fan. You were the only lot that didn't have the knives out for us in 2011.

I'm a lurker, have been for a while. An old guy from western Canada who likes to chat. I've been reading long enough to know I'll probably not be welcome, but if there's a chance, I'll take it. Nobody in my family cares for the game like I do, so I come to the message boards. Not a fan of echo chambers, and I know how to be polite in another's house. If you're willing to let me have a chance to stick around and participate, I would much appreciate it.

Thanks for reading this far,
RF
Go away please.

Never been before. RedFloyd is a nick my daughter came up with because she preferred Red to Pink, and we used to listen every morning on the way to daycare. Bruce Grobbelaar played for my Whitecaps back in '80/'81 and I've always been a goalie nut. Followed him to Crewe, and to Anfield. Hooked as a kid. Way she goes, and too late to change now.

Hold no hate for the Toffees. My scum wears devils, as they've been the cream most of my life. Hockey was the main focus of our rivalries around here, but the NHL lost me after 2011. Didn't occur to me until lately to look beyond Reddit for better way to chat with other fans, and that site has it's own issues.

so here I am.
Ice Hockey is an awesome sport in fairness. You a Montreal Canadiens fan? I am go Habs go.:p

Hey @RedFloyd did you watch the match last night? What did you make of it? Us Blues, understandably aren't in the best of moods, but do you think there are any signs of Benitez making his mark or slowly evolving to a signature style?

Personally I think he looks lost. The camera cut to him at the final whistle and he looked pretty shell shocked. Which surprised me actually, he's normally quite hard faced.

Canucks through and through, sorry. But I'm always willing to keep the peace on neutral ground, unless we're in a playoff series together. ?
Man why did you let those Bruins beat you in 2011? As a Habs fan, the Bruins and the Maple Leafs are the two teams i hate the most.

Here's me walking through a minefield. Stayed out if the match thread for reasons. I did manage to aquire a laggy stream on the pc, so I can partially answer your question.

I don't think Rafael is the problem, but I also don't think he's in a position where thw success the fans want is achievable. Moshiri looks like an owner willing to spend, but the board/Brands don't have the cohesive plan which would make the spending effective. Player assessments and value need to fit the overall plan, and if they don't line up, you're stuck with square holes and round pegs. You can see the results of that on the pitch. The only times our side have looked consistently good was when it all came together, specifically the boot room years and during the Edward's Era. Pick any other period and we were a somewhat disfunction mess with some high points. (My Canucks are a shining example of mismanagement atm, just so you know that I know what it looks like. Aqualini/Benning etc can find the nearest cliff)

I can say he has you on the right track. When Gray scored, and the following 20ish minutes, there wasn't a kopite who didn't have a tight pucker. It was a match and it wasn't obvious which way it would go. Salah was the difference, and it's not unreasonable to say he's just having one if those years. Wasn't much Coleman could have done that wouldn't have earned a red. After he had given Pickford an earful for missing the ball early, I had no doubt your guys were giving it their all. It showed. United have a more expensive team and you guys had 10x the fight.

Nobody wants to use injuries as an excuse, but they have to be taken into account. You're missing 4? starters atm? That's huge boots to fill at any time. Lacking depth due to poor recruiting is when it shows.

Yesterday was just a perfect storm of two teams in much different form, and imo, the look on his face was a reflection of that. He knows how hard a blow it was to the players and the fans. He sounds like a computer, but he really cares. He may not love the club like most of you, but he respects it and his role in it. You'll always get the best out of him. He almost drove our best to Chelsea, but in the end Stevie credits him with making him the manager he is now.

I really don't know who the club need to bring in. Ragnick would have been my first suggestion. A culture overhaul type of guy, but that means the board would have to bend the knee. Would they?

Just my take guys. Tar, feathers, and pitchforks are available for low prices. I'll be right over there if you like.
