Pienaar leaving us hurt us more than we think, if only for breaking up his partnership with Baines up on the left.

With that being said, Drenthe is a very similar player to Pienaar except he has much more pace and craft. If he and Baines can continue to work and get a solid partnership going together I don't think we will miss him too much. Keep in mind that getting to that same level of understanding is going to take a while.

Why don't we just bend over and take it even further up the Jaxxy.

FFS he's just a mercenary who we took a chance on his useless, no mans land arse and got him playing some great footy with a player he could really work with, and he got a big head and left for a minimal fee for a team equal to us in every way apart from money.

I wouldn't take him back if he crawled on his hands and knees across broken glass begging for forgiveness.

The only thing he cares about is money. I hope someone pulls his stupid pony tail and makes him cry, if he ever manages to make the team again.

Useless cretin.

This thread is about real debate McBain...get off the fence mate!

;)

Hope Pienaar get's fit again and makes the spurs team.

I'd love him to score two own goals and then get sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity.

Hopefully then he'd be booed by his own fans and sink into a depression and forever regret leaving Everton.

In Many years time at an old players reunion as the former Everton greats walk into a hotel dinner to recieve rapturous applause..... a dirty homless man will gaze despairingly from across the road. He will sob gently as he pulls his pizza box blanket up to shield himself from the wind and rain on a cold November night, that homeless man will be Pienaar.

Everton made a rod for their own back by offering Arteta a £75k a week 5 year contract; Pienaar was an important member of our team, and regardless of all the 'he doesn't score enough' shouts he had one of the best understandings with a player in Baines and the pair of them caused problems for many a team. That partnership was enough, IMO, to offer Pienaar an improved long term contact.

Everton did pull him out of the wilderness, but this is football in 2011, there is no loyalty. Would I take him back and see him and Bainesy linking up again, the answer would be yes in an instant

This is the stand out from that article, regarding people calling him a 'mercenary':

What about the fans who claim Pienaar is a mercenary ? Well my answer for them would be ‘show me a footballer who is not ?’ Steven Pienaar would have signed a new contract with Everton had the Blues offered him the deal he wanted. He was NEVER offered anywhere near £65k a week at Everton despite for me being or most influential player for the last 18 months of his stay and fully deserving of being a top earner. Then he saw Mikel Arteta being given £75k a week and asked for parity in the end when the club made no attempt to get near what he wanted, he would have signed for probably somewhere around £60k a week had we not dragged our heels. A lot of money yes but when he was our best player it was a no brainer for me. The likes of Saha, Distin and Heitinga are all on or around that figure and he for me deserved to be also.

We as fans demand loyalty from players, yet the Club has failed over and over again to give some players the same thing over the Years.

At the end of the day, its a job and everybody has to look after themselves.

He's a nobody. I don;t see him him playing like Teta week in week out and performing for his new team.

He's a goose and I guarantee he'll be sh!t next time round if he comes back.

Hes better than Cahill lad.

This is true. It's a shame really, Timmy will always be loved, but he just doesn't have the engine that he used to. He'll be 32 in December.

Pienaar would bring our our dangerous left flank back. Right now were not dangerous anywhere on the pitch. Drenthe & Pienaar cutting in from the flanks is a good proposition.
