I think he's the ideal man to give them 2 a breather. However them 3 together will not score enough goals. If we get a RW in the summer James would be my man in there. Squad game these days and Tom Davies will get plenty of games rotating with them 2.

I completely agree that the lack of goals from midfield is a problem.
It appears that we may be evolving our shape into a front 2 with no10 behind.

Assuming that DCL and Richalison are the front 2 ( with proper cover next season ) and James is no10 ( with Sigurdsson deputising when injured ) I think that is pretty strong.
Allan and Doucoure in midfield are v good but not really a goal threat.

So is the 3rd midfielder are we looking for a sitter to free Doucoure in particular or , as you say a Lampard type?

Gomes and Tommy D are decent back up but dont really fit either role.

I think our goal output will also improve when we get a proper right back as Colemans long term replacement.

I mean, it's not exactly like anyone else's passing is really shining as an example of being "good" in the last few months besides James and even he has been relatively sloppy at times.

Feel sorry for the likes of him who cant be rested as we have perma crocks like Delph & Gbamin who offer us nothing.

Shame the Chelsea game is so close as both Doucoure & Allan could do with a rest but unless Davies is fit both will be starting.

Been massively off the boil lately. This is the player that I saw at Watford that made me not want him.
He’s shown he can be hugely effective though, so hoping he’ll step up again now the games are less frequent.
