The fact that we played about 25 games in December cant be helping all our injuries.
Yeah, though every team did. And every team has injuries.

It's that we've basically only got two players who have energy in midfield and one of those has missed the last two months so that has meant extra work for the other one.

Comes back to recruitment. Literally anybody who is signed now has to be able to give us energy. James was the exception, because he's the sex, but conversely means we need players with legs around him.

It's one of Brands' previous main failings IMO. Lots of technically good players, but physically weak/sluggish.

Was wondering when people would get around to blaming Brands.

Hes signed 2 players with questionable injury records, Hamez and Delph.

None of the others were considered injury prone prior to joining the club.

But that wont stop people, oh no.

As you say, the whole league is suffering due to a longish season with lots of games crammed into every nook.

Not about injury records at all. I'm talking about energy, players able to get around the pitch at pace with or without the ball (not necessarily sprints, but just energy to keep going), and have that physical power too.

Iwobi, for example, can do it, but lasts about 5 mins. Bernard is tiny. Gomes was slow even before the injury.

Allan, Doucoure - both excellent additions and bring that tenacity. Previously, Gbamin - that was just unfortunate what happened there, but we do know he has that ability to get about from his time in Germany (whether he has that anymore, we may never find out). Then there's Richarlison, but he's a forward.

So yeah, think you've misunderstood my point. Not about injuries, more about energy/stature. I always think we look such a small team in midfield. Also not blaming Brands. But it clearly is a failing of the recruitment that we don't have more players capable of it and he's been in charge of that one way or the other for the past three years now.

They did say "all the reliables saying it" so it would seem they are just going off what others have said. Not sure who the 'reliables' are that are saying it.

Let's hope they're wrong.

He hasn't been great lately on the ball but his energy off it is crucial for us.

Davies, Holgate, Keane, Godfrey, Digne, DCL all have very good energy levels.

Gomes and The Iceberg are the only 1s who you could say play at glacial speed, even the likes of Mina, who runs in treacle has good energy for me, hell Pickford even!

Doucs has been like an energizer bunny tho, big loss.

I just posted a video of all our away goals this season (pretty much) if you watch it he’s involved in most in some capacity. He’s a massive loss. He doesn’t just bring energy he does a host of other duties that go un-noticed at times.

I mean, only two of those signed by Brands.

But it's midfield that is the key. We don't need our CBs to get around the pitch. Godfrey is a freak and it's a great signing.

Digne can keep going, but he isn't powerful.

Maybe 'power' is the word for it, I don't know? I'm not just talking about stamina - though that is part of it obviously.

We basically need 2-3 players with Doucoure's energy/size/power in the squad going forward. I do think we have Gbamin that could have been one of those, and that's just unfortunate.
