2020/21 Abdoulaye Doucouré

I mean, only two of those signed by Brands.

But it's midfield that is the key. We don't need our CBs to get around the pitch. Godfrey is a freak and it's a great signing.

Digne can keep going, but he isn't powerful.

Maybe 'power' is the word for it, I don't know? I'm not just talking about stamina - though that is part of it obviously.

We basically need 2-3 players with Doucoure's energy/size/power in the squad going forward. I do think we have Gbamin that could have been one of those, and that's just unfortunate.
Fab Dab has great energy.

These injury rumours about Everton tend to turn out to be true. If so, I think it's essential we have Davies back. A midfield 3 of Allan, Tom and Gomes, or Allan Tom and Siggy/James I can live with. When Mina is` back we can also go to a flat back 4 and move Digne up to left midfield.

Not the end of the world but it's a shame it's come as we're playing such an important game in the race for top 4. At least the fixture congestion isn't too bad after tomorrow.

I said a while ago when people were banging on about our 'strongest team' etc, that I doubt we'd see it again more than 2-3 times for the rest of the season (think that was back in December/early Jan time).

We still haven't seen it since then. And we won't have seen it since the first derby.

Be a huge miss if it's true - and I don't doubt it is. A massive blow because of the energy he provides. Luckily, Allan coming back at the right time but, we know we're going to have to do it the hard way.

On the injuries in training thing... It's not really the training that's the issue for me. I have, for a good while now, questioned our medical team and our rehab/performance team. I don't think they're good enough. They cocked up on Gbamin, and genuinely don't seem to know how to manage James' injury at all either. Us having an 8-day break and managing to lose 4 players in it is more evidence of that, I think. They really need scrapping. The physio who comes on the pitch when there's an injury is hopeless - he tried to tell Bolasie to run off an ACL injury ffs

They’re all probably Bill’s mates though so we’re stuck with them for the foreseeable.

It does worry me mate.

Training injuries happen. It's the management of our players that worries me.

We have had tons of games in a congested spell this season but, let's face it, our injury issues actually haven't been any worse than they normally would be.

Didnt we employ a new medical team a few seasons back?

We had a bit of a reshuffle under Carlo but Adam Newall came in in about 2016 IIRC.

I honestly have never been convinced he's up to scratch. Obviously, it's very much me being a bit of a prat because I know F all about rehab or physio, so he's clearly good enough to get the gig.

But he's responsible for 'screening, preparation and rehab'.

Well... I don't think any of those things have been done particularly well over the last few years?

This appears to be the basis for this rumour unless anyone else knows where it’s coming from???
