2020/21 Abdoulaye Doucouré

I hope he isn't injured, but if he is and davies is back, then I'm not overly worried. I ike doucoure, but he doesn't half have a mistake in him. He seems to misplace a lot of passes.

....problem is, Doucoure is the only one with ‘legs’ to go with a runner. Go past Davies and he’s out of the game, it was a big problem for us before Doucoure arrived. It’s not what he does with the ball, his contribution without it is vital.

Yep, we need more athletic, powerful players in midfield.

The medical team have to get Gbamin back into some working order soon, but he's not going to be the answer right away.

It's a recruitment issue. We couldn't have done much more in the summer with the funds we had available, but this summer it's absolutely vital that we bring in more power and athleticism into midfield.

Absolute nightmare this.
JRod out too again, just as Allan back after 2 1/2 months out.
Think this will put an end to top 4 aspirations.
we need our best players fit to stand any chance.
No. We just need to be strong and resolute. Apart from the rumoured Doucs injury the rest are minor. Losing to Chelsea doesn't cost us 4th place. There's still lots to play for.

C'mon Blues. Dig a result out tonight, even if it's a draw, and we're still right in it.

The kid Onyango is probably most similar in the squad, has a great engine and can get all around the pitch.
If it is true(hopefully not) be interesting if he starts getting a bit of game time.
He may do purely because of injuries, but talented as the kid is, I've seen nothing so far to say he's anywhere near stepping up.

He could surprise us though, but I hope he doesn't get the opportunity because that means our injury situation is last legs dire

....athleticism with quality. There’s also no option to Gomes as the ball playing deep midfielder so we could do with a player who not only has quality in possession but can outrun opponents.

Are you seemingly ignoring all the wins we’ve had this season without Rodriguez? He’s missed 8 PL games before tonight, we’ve won 7 of them including Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal.

But then we had Doucoure...I’m just being pessimistic I guess

Him missing could be a massive blow, like some of said the amount of ground he covers is incredible. I feel a little less worried about it given Davies recent form and the fact we have Allan back. Don’t get me wrong we will miss him but losing him now isn’t what it would have been before Davies upturn in form. If the rumours are true get well soon Doucs

Come on now, we aren’t saying Davies is a suitable replacement for Doucoure are we? And saying he has a mistake in him while ignoring Davies’s flaws seems a bit flawed as a point too.
