We have some seriously injury prone midfielders. Doucoure wasn’t actually one of them. Might need looking at in the summer.
This is what made Gana such a tough loss. He was always fit - and never had a "bad" game. Sure we always wanted more in attack but we knew what we were getting game in game out. Doucoure was similar in that regard. His loss for any period of time will be tough to replace - but we can survive it if Allan, in particular, stays healthyThe problem is now that we survived Allan’s injury because Docuoure just about held everything together. If Allan goes down now though then midfields of Davies Siggurdson Gomes could lose most games and has zero chance against City. This could be a huge blow. We have to buy once again in the summer for midfielders until we get a core of players who can play at the pace and intensity of premier league football for a whole season. Allan and Docuoure with one of them always injured isn’t enough.
Davies was also being called up to train with the full England squad at 17. If Onyango had Davies skill already- he'd of played by now.I think Davies clearly was 'ready' though. I haven't seen anything of Onyango in the 23s to suggest that he's ready for the step up.
We'll see, but throwing him in and asking us to do the job of probably what's proved to be our most important midfielder seems a large order.
I'd play Godfrey in the middle, flanked by Corporal Jones and Private Fraser. The old dogs of war if you like.If Mina is back would a midfield of Godfrey, Davies and Allan work until Doucoure is back
Godfrey has the power pace and physicality and he can tackle
Plus he likes a 50 yard run with the ball every now and again
Davies holding Allan to the right and Godfrey to the left
Mina is due back this week
