2020/21 Abdoulaye Doucouré

Wasn't the worst player prior to being subbed I thought. Think at that point it was Ancelotti throwing caution to the wind when he replaced him with Gordon.

Just my opinion, but him playing right of the 3 man midfield. And covering for James. Is effecting his game. Though I’m not sure what happened today as he didn’t seem to be over to Godfrey a lot, seemed Allan getting over. Maybe just an off day.

But I think having gbamin central, Allan right to cover James and Coleman. Will leave Doucoure left and more chances to get forward. And with some of the ball James plays from right to left, his running and a extra body getting in down that side, could be massive. For now I wouid play Delph central. With Allan and Doucoure.

I did say in the week, this is the midfield I would play today

If Braithwaite is fit and on the bench and Kenny is at RB I wouldn't mind Godfrey given a go at CDM alongside Allan with Doucoure pushed forward.

Atleast with Godfrey you would have pace in the middle and someone who is tidy on the ball.

Why do we want to play people out of position so much?

If Gbamin was fit it wouldn't be an issue but we have a squad of crocks & players with a tendency to see the red mist and serve 3 match bans.

Newcastle is all about the 3 points for me by hook or by crook - 3 games without a win and the confidence is completely gone from the side.

Rest James and have him and Coleman ready for Utd the following week, either change the system or stick with 433 but with relatively untested Kenny and Nkounkou at full back up against quick direct players like St Maximim/Almerion/Fraser we need better cover in the midfield and Delph whilst decent isn't the quickest.

Godfrey is also very much either a CB/CDM - he just isnt a RB.

Watford fans and multiple experts on here really. What was your idea ?

I thought be would be somewhat "box to box", but not exactly like Viera (players like that are exceptionally hard to find). Just more in the sense that he would do a shift in the DM role (which he has done) but get forward more than a traditional DM (which I think he has also done).

When I've watched us play Watford at Goodison in the past, he's always struck me as a very imposing, dominant, strong player - I think we've been lacking that for ages.

We do have a problem with pace in our midfield...

We have done for years mate - not saying its a long term solution as long term Gomes should be replaced with a top CM signing but whilst 3-4 of our top attacking players are out (Richarlison, James, Digne & Coleman) we need to start shipping less goals and tightening up as we aint creating the chances to outscore the opposition 4-2 / 5-2 like we were doing at the start of the season.

I just don't see that, the only thing that springs to mind which was great was the Zaha tackle.

His forward play especially has been somewhat average thus far , he does run a lot though.

For a box to box player, he isn’t in either box much. I’d like to see him push forward a bit more. He’s got a goal in him if he makes runs ahead of DCL occasionally.
