I think a lot of people have been suggesting that he's underperformed, and that there's more to come. This sort of backs up the idea that that isn't really the case, and what we've seen so far is exactly what we'll continue to see for the most part.

He is average on most areas, from a statistical perspective. All I would say though, is we were very poor from those same metrics, so he is a big step up. ONe thing that article didn't pick up upon, is he's very good at pressures, but the rest pretty average.

I'd like to see him carry the ball more which he's quite good at.

We tend to see average as meaning bad. To me it just means, in most areas he's about what you expect. He's quite versatile as a result. As yet I'm not sure we've seen the best of him with the ball and if he can start carrying up the pitch for us, that would change some perceptions.

Does he dominate midfields though? Is that even his game? Yet to see him do it once in his Premier League career tbh.
I recall a number of games in his first couple of years with Watford when he caught the eye. He was though poor last season there.

Not fussy on what he said in the Athletic: generally speaking, if he had the chance of joining another club he wanted to he'd do everything to leave his current one; and stating that if he's an established starter in a team he'd feel unmotivated and want to seek a new challenege elsewhere.

Hmmm.

Link?

I cant link, it's not allowed on here.

I think I can post this small bit though:

On Gueye leaving for PSG: "I think everyone in my position is going to do everything to leave. I think it could have been me”.

On motivation and leaving: "...this is the moment to move when, season-on-season, you don’t have the same anger in you. You prove yourself in the team you’re quite comfortable with, you know you’re going to play every week and the motivation is not the same. So I wanted a new challenge."

Sounds like he was talking about leaving Watford no?

And I didn't know we couldn't post articles here.

It was noted in the article.

Doucoure’s ability to hound players in general is quite good, so much so that it makes up for the fact that his possession adjusted tackle and interception numbers aren’t anything to boast at from a central midfielder. He uses his solid mobility to bother opponents and make it uncomfortable to shoot or pass with him in the vicinity. His pressure map shows that he overall provided lots of value as something of a roamer defensively who made it tough on his opponents. Doucoure's game ability to use his mobility to pressure opponents is something that would likely translate to a bigger club.

As far as I know we cant post from the Athletic.

Doucoure: he was speaking about when he was at Watford but his words are of a general nature: that he'll do all he can to leave a club if a better chance comes along; and that he'll become unmotivated and restless for a move if he is an established first team player.

You hate Everton so much.

Well he had every right to feel that way about Watford. He accomplished all he was going to accomplish there.

I wouldn't worry about him feeling that way about Everton. This is as high as it will get for him. He is not DCL not Richy who will have bigger clubs knocking on their doors soon. If anything, he will take a step down once he leaves.
