Well he had every right to feel that way about Watford. He accomplished all he was going to accomplish there.

I wouldn't worry about him feeling that way about Everton. This is as high as it will get for him. He is not DCL not Richy who will have bigger clubs knocking on their doors soon. If anything, he will take a step down once he leaves.

I feel him and Allan are short term appointments. Allan I can see still being an important Player in 3 seasons Time at 32. Especially with Europe and a 60 game season.

It wouidnt suprise me to see doucoure move on in a couple of years, with us recouping 2/3rds of the money. I do like him and I think he will be An important Player for us. I just think we will see a lot of changes in midfield over the next 2yrs. And hopefully the players we buy, will be another level above Doucoure.

Even if Dave’s interpretation of the article is correct, isn’t that just true of the vast majority of players these days that if a better club or better wages comes along there heads turned and they move on. Players being mercenaries isn’t a new thing in this day in age unfortunately

While most are focusing on the 'attitude' aspect of the Athletic article, there were some very nice nuggets in there about the way Ancelotti is using him.

Says him definitely more as a defensive midfielder than an attacking - "you are not a no 10, and will never play in the role under me". Secondly, he confirms that his role is to cover for James on the right side and that is his sole purpose.

With that said, I can't see Ancelotti changing tact and having Doucoure push forward as many of us have flagged recently and that James will stay on that right side and we will defend as a 4-4-2 and attack as a 4-3-3.
