Since Allan went off injured he's been superb. Is it Doucoure stepping up or just him looking better because the far superior Allan is injured?

Probably a bit of both but he's done exactly what is needed.

I thought that was his best game tonight btw with the ball at his feet. Very tidy apart from 1 utterly crap pass.

I think it’s the switch to 4231. No more covering the right flank, no more having to play in the right inside channel. Just getting up and down the centre of the pitch seems to suit him perfectly.

Perhaps it’s the personnel. At the start of the season James seemed to naturally drift inwards, Gomes didn’t, and Doucoure therefore had to cover the right flank. In this system Iwobi seems to stay out wide and Sigurdsson is moving into that 10 position. Seems more balanced.

We have played 4-2-3-1 in recent weeks we just didn't today.

Immense again for me, has been since signing, but some still slag him off and call him donkere?! I don't get it.

His workrate and desire to affect the game is infectious, and he sparks others around him into action - I don't think it's an accident that siggy looks better when the dukes been there (and Allan of course!) - we loose that game (and a few others!) without Doucs, simple as.

His celebration for the goal was brilliant as well, he looked absolutely delighted and I think he genuinely loves being with us, which is another thing I love him for.

Once again Abdoulaye Doucouré puts in another top performance. He's really stepped up when needed and put himself about. I'll admit that I had my doubts about him at first, but he's now looking a very good signing for us... well done Marcel Brands.

His energy is important It'll be like 85 minutes and we're holding onto a 1-0 win and this lad will just charge around like a bull trying to win it back, Important player for us.
