Id agree mate, be stupid to hand out any extension right now given our position. We’ve worse sinners on the wage bill though. But if and when a decision may need to made and we are in the PL Id activate.

He may well have something lined up already, maybe Dyche needs to make him feel wanted again and have that word with him - if he does want him, which I suspect he would . He already said he’d like to stay here, though that was last summer.
I don't think he's particularly bad but he's not great. I do agree that he fills a role in the squad. But if he's on £100k a week then could that role be filled by someone who's going to improve and is younger, etc.

But for now we just have to hope he helps keeps us up. If we're safe by early May then we can be thinking about extensions, or keeping Coady etc. For now it's just try and eek 5 wins really.

If he keeps playing well and IF we stay up, he would have to take a pay cut to extend surely?
You'd expect these things come down to negotiations with his agent - interest from other parties etc.

He's expensive, but buying new players is also expensive.

He may demand even more than 100k a week from somebody else if he is on a 'free' and in demand.

Anyway, form his perspective, he needs to play well to extend his career on good terms now, here or elsewhere.

His contract is up isn’t it , unless we choose to activate his extension clause . Free transfers can usually demand higher wages plus we’re in a very awkward position of not really knowing where we’ll be playing . Not sure who it’ll play out to be honest , if we stay up and have the same level of financial support from those upstairs and his form continues to be relatively decent then extending his deal might well be an option .

I'm not a fan overall but he has clearly brought something to the table under Dyche and is a disruptor in midfield.

We have always played way too deep and I like to see the midfielders push up so there's that.

He'll be off if we go down, but if we avoid that then on 100k a week we can't afford that anyway.

Everyone we've signed over the past few years needs binning.
He's overpaid just like Iwobi, Keane, Godfrey, and Mina.
We paid too much for all of them and gave them contracts no one else would offer.
While I hope he plays well for us, he cannot be effective enough to justify his current wage never mind any extension of his fat contract.
