Good player, but it's hard to fathom how we need more central midfielders at this point.

Unless it's a part exchange with Morgan, James or Mo , I'd have to agree with you . He may see Gbamin as a defender but it's unlikely .
Doucure would be a great player in Silvas system but we have so much deadwood in that particular part of the pitch , I can't see it happening .
Would be great read Watford's forums if it happened.

As it stands this one makes no sense. Surely he'd be a starter and surely going by the money we spent Gbamin is also a starter? Does Gomes or Siggy get dropped or a complete reshuffle where we see Bernard dropped and Richy and Kean out wide with Siggy as a false 9? Feel like it might be a blag rumour

Here’s an idea, how about if we want to sign another midfielder could we perhaps sign one who creates?

Personally think he is just what we need. But go along with others in that if the bid is true and we end up getting him I'd like to think deals are in place for Morgan, Besic and even McCarthy. If it happened all of an sudden we have a lot of power and strength in the midfield area.

Came through for Mainz as a DM but has played at CB quite a bit so it's probably thought he can cover both, and can be the ball-carrying centre half we need.

The fact we're bidding for another central midfielder when we've already signed 3 this summer (including Gbamin) indicates to me that the Zouma deal is dead and Gbamin is more likely to be considered a CB.

If I am wrong, I dread to think what this means for Davies who, despite his flaws, is still one of the most promising young CM's around. If we signed Doucoure, that'll be 4 CM's in one summer. Our record signing is also a CM. Puts him at 6th choice in a three man midfield. Not the sort of message we need to be sending to young talent.

We need another winger to replace Bernard urgently. Other than that, the squad isn't too bad.

Good footballer that would help us but I don’t think he’s too unique of a player to demand that we shell out 40/50 odd mil for. I would expect Brands to be able to identify some box to box midfielders who are younger and cheaper.

Disagree with the Bernard shout, think it's great what he offers creatively and his link up play with Digne is good also, although I'll concede that this season he needs to add assists and goals. Getting Gbamin for CB doesn't strike me as the most pragmatic from Brands... I reckon its more a case of the Doucoure rumour being jarg as I think we'll get Zouma come deadline day.
