2024/25 Abdoulaye Doucoure

Decent player….. been a good 5 seasons with Everton and for 20mil I think we have had our monies worth if not only for that goal!

But one of the highest earners and 32years old will be good to get off the books.

With Doucoure, DCL, Keane and Young all hopefully leaving this summer…. Frees up 350k per week for somewhat little return!

I can't believe the level of disrespect on here for a guy who always works like a dog for the blue shirt. If a match finished 3-0 to us, with Doucoure having a goal and two assists, lots of posters would still be moaning about the instances where he miscontrolled the ball or misplaced a pass. I'm not saying he should be a long term first teamer, but what about some respect, please, for a 100% trier and regular contributor to good results?
Mate, he earns over 100 grand a week. The bare minimum he should do is run for 65 minutes once a week. He doesn't need grown men singing his praises on here in return. I've always worked hard in my job and didn't get a round of applause each time I entered the office, and certainly wasn't earning 3x more than colleagues much more able than I was.

He is not as bad as some have decided. Yes, often tires in the second half, yes, he gives the ball away too much. But he is full of energy, running, pops up regularly with crucial goals. Thing is, could we, given our recent history etc, have got better? Can we find a suitable replacement soon?

2 goals in 25+ games is not regularly! It's an absolutely pitiful return for a number 10 earning over 100 thousand pounds per week.

Alcaraz…. 10 years younger, potential to be a fan favourite, fraction of his wage, very likely more end product.

Could we have gotten better, probably not. Again, not a massive fan of his but can’t fault the job he has done for us keeping in mind what we paid for him, the team / managers, plus what we have spent on others during the last 7-8 years!

However, he should be nowhere near 100k+ per week.

I season deal for no more than £40,000 a week. That might be being generous. Being a donkey with ball at your feet is not ok at this level. He has pressed really well under Moyes but we need players in his position to contribute with regular assists and goals.

I think he will be offered an extension based simply on the fact that every manager we have seems to rate him. I would like to think that any extension would be on lower wages, but I don’t see the wholesale clear out that some are forecasting. We need a squad and he remains a useful squad member, (I would het shut of him by the way, but I don't believe Moyes will want to provided Doucoure doesn't take the mickey with his wage demands.

Wouldn't work reducing his wages to that extent, he'd feel devalued and under appreciated which in turn will affect his performances and general mood in the dressing room. Human psychology is something us fans never really factor into these kind of decisions

I doubt that he will be given another contract but if he does should not be more than the average Championship wage or league one reflecting his present form and ability. He does try but unfortunately not good enough at the moment for an upcoming premiership squad.

….looks like he’s still first choice here, Moyes called him a very valuable member of the team.

Interesting to see if he’s selected ahead of Alcaraz again, if so I’d be surprised if Moyes is not already trying to persuade him to extend.

According to the Times Everton have decided not to extend his contract ( rumour )
I read last week our win % when he starts compared to when he doesn’t
If someone can dig up those stats a lot of people will be very very surprised

The Times is just quoting what's been reported, which is we aren't taking up the option to pay him £120k a week for another year. We will make him an offer, and it will be a damn sight more than the £5k a week we offered Tom Davies! I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed for one more season, as I can see him enjoying playing for Moyes, but it needs to be on a lot less money.

Didn’t work like a dog when Lampard dropped him, spat his dummy out and was a c u next Tuesday by all accounts, walking off the training ground, that’s disrespectful to his teammates, sitting on the ball in the warm up, can’t remember who that was against.
End of the day he’s done ok for us at times, but had also had some shockers, technically he’s a poor footballer and we need a lot better to move forward, I hope sentimentality is finally getting replaced at our club, with ambition

it’s true not just a rumour and we beat palace the other week without him, we’ve hardly won many football matches in the last few years, so wouldn’t read into them stats much, if we were challenging for Europe, then that’s different. We never win a game when Tarkowski doesn’t play
