2024/25 Abdoulaye Doucoure

Nothing against Doucore. He has his uses. But he is just another example of why Dyche has no future here. Gone after the season and we have better players in his position that he is stealing minutes from. This is just a wasted season. I think we will be fine. It may be a blessing in disguise that Branthwaite couldn’t save Dyche’s arse. But the sooner we start actually attempting to improve the better. TFG can’t take over quickly enough

Tim is rallly improving I totally agree but stating we have no points when he plays is utter bollox and he played today and we got three points.

The general consensus around the ground is that we have to persevere with Tim,he is better than Doucoure who is a reliability.

You are obviously on the side of Dyche ball otherwise Doucoure would get no where near the staring line up and when your team are bolloxed you would be using your last two subs that went unused to freshen up.

Even your heroDoucoure was blowing out of his arse with Dyches other favourite McNeill but left on the pitch.

The reasoning of points to player tha play is pathetic this early in the season, we have got our points so far this season because teams that we got points from have failed to finish us off, we have lost points for the same reason.

We are three athletic players away from being a strong mid to top half team the margins are that tight for the also ran teams, the margins just havent been with us and it is not because of Bambi!

no offence mate but that was really really hard to read, i dont even know what you are trying to say in half of it

The Doucoure Paradox goes back at least to the Lampard era: yes we all think he’s rubbish but we undeniably get better results with him in the team, and that continues this season.

So I guess the question is, if a bad player improves the results of the team, are they a bad player?

He’s a bad player on the ball but clearly not a bad one off it (defensively at least)

I want us to move away from needing him more than anything but the pattern remains that he goes out the team, the work rate drops, the gaps appear, and bodies start getting pulled all over the pitch and were ran through. He comes back into the team and we look more solid and other players start finding form again.

I think two things need to happen:

We need more players with pace as defenders need to sit deep because the way have no pace they leave gaps in midfield that can’t be easily closed

Some of the other players at Everton really need to work harder off the ball.

Tim is really promising, but we have 0 points with him.

5 points with Doucoure.

No he’s not the answer, yes Tim needs more game time. But not at the expense of our safety. Tim/Dixon/O’Brien are not a generational talent like Branthwaite at all.
Are you talking about starts or appearances?

Tim was on the pitch at the end of the Newcastle game, so that would give us 1 point with him

I’ve said before I really do think some top level coaches and managers are really focused on that kind of statistic . It’s a fact and the stats support it so I can understand why even if I don’t really understand why the stats are so in his favour .

He’s a really good footballer, without the ball.

We haven’t really got any of them. Gana is fantastic when he’s harrying but positionally leaves big gaps.

Doucoure is really good at closing lanes, pressing intelligently and staying disciplined (he just can’t play deep/on his own).

He’s crap with the ball, absolutely no doubt about it sadly. We’re the sort of team that can’t really afford players that do both though right now, some sacrifices have to be made to make the team function.
