That would be the best but until the window we haven’t got many other options. Just not enough pace anywhere in the team. Branthwaite has some, Doucoure, Calvert Lewin, that’s it out of the regular starters. Take any of them out and we just can’t compress the space off the ball and teams just play around us with ease.

I think whatever pace Doucore did have, he doesn't have anymore. He seems to just lumber around, not actually pressing the player but trying to block the passing lines.

I honestly don't see Ndiaye not being able to offer similar defensive solidity given a run, whilst also not being afraid to turn and face the opposition. The amout of times Doucoure just whacks it backwards gives Steven Naismith a run for his money for that award.

I honestly just put it down to coincidence that it feels like we win when he plays. I've seen him play loads of games where we get snotted.

It's deffo in Dyches pea brain though that he must play as we can't win without him

Bringing on Doucoure in that game wasn't a bad sub. Leaving a gassed Irregbunum on is what lost us the game.

I'd have loved him to fake to shoot. Checked inside. Watched gabriel slide by like an ass as he sold him the dummy and come inside on his right to have the whole goal to shoot at.
But then i remembered its Everton and doucoure. We dont do technique or guile. We just wait for 15 minutes to line up a shot. I reckon a 60yr old Tony Adams would have caught up with doucoure yest.

He is a presence defending corners and that's it.

His technique is horrific

He works hard at closing off channels, his stamina allows him to be reasonably effective.
He is the equivalent of a footballing gnat , an irritant to the attacking side, easily swatted away, but has an occasional ability to give a nasty bite.

If we had the money for better players we could buy those players who can cover ground and have technique. Instead it’s always a choice between Doucoure who can run but can’t pass or Mangala who can pass but can’t run.
