2024/25 Abdoulaye Doucoure

Thats nonsense. Drop Harrison. Start lindstrom. Move Ndiaye more central.
There is always an option than starting Doucoure. He's nothing but a hindrance.
There may be options but it's not nonsense to see that Doucore ticks a lot of the Moyes boxes, albeit very small ticks.

He loves a hard working runner down the middle and even more if they're a bit physical. Until there's a better version Doucore will be playing a lot under Moyes.

Watching last night I was impressed with how much ground he covers, he hassles the opposition and did force some mistakes from Villa. But when he has the ball he just tends to give it away.

I just kept thinking imagine if he could actually pass hed be an asset to the team.

Also watching Ndiaye- the work rate he puts in surely would match that of Doucoure but would have the ability to pass or beat a man in the final third.

Harrison has been poor but I’d be interested to see how he’d do in his natural position on the left with Ndiaye in the 10 and Lindstrom in the right.

The bold is why i think he's in the team.

I don't think Mangala and Gana can cope in a 2 man midfield.

So we have Doucoure who drops in routinely to support.

He's got an engine to get back and forward.

Ideally, we have a better squad so we can keep a number 10, as an actual number 10.

Maybe when Garner is back?

If we take Doucoure out for say, Lindstrom or NDiaye. We become wide open in the middle of the park.

We saw it yesterday as Doucoure was pushing forward more - Villa had mountains of space to run into.

All of that is completely pointless if he's constantly giving the ball away because he cant pass or control a ball. He's playing a number 10 role and this season his stats are scored 0 assists 0. Theres a few factors as to why we've scored 15 goals in 20 games. Having him in that role is one of them. Move him from that role.

He's a liability, he's never been a footballer, but, he was an outstanding athlete, he could run for ever, had a decent turn of speed and was very strong physically. Sadly as they say, the last thing to go is your touch. Doucoure's touch was never up to scratch and the years are beginning to tell on his physicality and pace.

He's undoubtedly one of the worst footballers in the league, but he's one of the best athletes. It's a sad reflection on what we've become, that players like him earn a living off their ability to run, rather than their ability with the ball.
I get why he's been in the team, but I genuinely don't see us progressing as a football team, with non footballers in key positions

I absolutely agree.

I was just puzzled why you hoped we'd seen the last of Doucore when Moyes was announced? It's not like there is a chasm in the footballing approach of Moyes and his predecessor.

I'm afraid this is correct..

Moyes has a bit more about him than Dyche. Moyes hasnt got a negative goal difference over his career like dyche has.
I'd hoped he'd watched a bit of Everton and realised playing him in that role is like banging your head against the wall. We'll see if persists with it like dyche.
