If we do that passing from the back thing against a side like United, we'll get f*cking ripped to pieces. Nearly got caught out a few times.

I'm all for passing it short to full backs and trying to work it down the line but short passes between the keeper and centre half are a recipe for disaster.

It was nice to see them trying to play football and not many hoofs of note. I only saw the 2nd half but the majority of our play was 2 touch football. I thought Ossie struggled with this and I thought he would be the one most comfortable with it. Can see a few up and downs next season as we continue to adapt but it is the way forward and in time RM will also sign players to suit his style. I am very optimistic and pleased that we are looking to be a footballing team.
I was made up that we weren't hoofing it to Fellaini and using him as a target striker.

We have to learn how to do it and we have to do in matches to learn, better then hoofing and giving it back to the other time over and over. Man u and Arsenal do this all the time, it will be much easier to see out games we are winning.

UTD of old maybe but not daveys UTD. They are gonna be gash in comparison.

Gibson was outstanding last night. Highlighted how much our team will miss him tho when he's out injured! Need a back up in simlar molde as him.

Thought our style of play/passing was very good also. We seemed to play a propper 4-2-3-1 aswell, which really suited the passing style. Gibson and Fellaini side by side is a very strong partnership. Osman was the weak link just in front, a quality No.10 there would really make us lethal. Maybe between Osman (who is better than last night) and Barkley we can find the answer to that No.10 role. Maybe even pienaar a option there.

On the wings, I really think mirallas needs to play from the left. Deulofeu as much of a prospect he looks IMO will be offering his talents from the bench. Naismith and guaye are not good enough and should be moved on, allowing us to sign another winger with quality, someone like Moses would be perfect.

Upfront is all still a bit undecided yet. Vellios has looked better than I thought, vic is vic and will never be more than an impact sub IMO, jelavic (who I think will be sold) and kone yet to be seen yet.

Good all round Pre season game IMO. Still a couple of quality players short IMO.

I actually thought Naismith looked decent last night. If nothing else, he's a decent option off the bench, and provides lots of energy. He does also have a knack of getting into goalscoring positions consistently.

The Chelsea game at the end of the season illustrated that point - he played terribly but popped up with a goal.

Delighted to see the set up in midfield. Felli alongside Gibbo with Osman further forward. I thought Ossie was outstanding in this role. Getting into pockets of space and threading through balls. Leon can turn on a sixpence and is not afraid to try the difficult pass. Took his goal well too. Big difference to the more physical style of Cahill or Fellaini in that role.

looking forward to seeing barkley in that role

Accrington Stanley lads all I am saying however the style of play was refreshing and we did not have our best 11 out.

Couple of things I noted.

- Can our back 4 and keeper cope with teams who won,t allow them to play it around and out from the back? Do we have that natural skill in the back 4 to cope with moving the ball quickly when required?
- Baines is the only choice for left back
- Still seeing to much sloppy play in the back 4 - teams will get punished in a flash
- Can we create more clear cut chances up top despite having all the play against better sides?
- Big Hair seems out of sorts to me, not convinced he has his head in this given the speculation. He also looks to slow for the type of team and play that the manager wants from his side.

We will see.

Imo no, and that's why that Ajax defender would be a brilliant addition for me.

Jagielka is a brilliant defender, but passing is arguably his worst attribute. He's already cost us two goals in two games so far due to trying to be clever (against Vienna a terrible cross-field pass which went directly to their striker, against Accrington trying to dribble through four players, lost possession, 10 seconds later ball in back of the net). Distin is a hoofball specialist. I have no fears about Coleman or Baines being able to pass it about nicely, but when our "top two" centre backs are **** as passing in a team who are supposed to be playing tiki taki football I am a bit scared.
