Folks,

We've recently improved our statistic monitoring and have become aware that nearly 27% of last months traffic had a version of 'adblock' installed. In Layman's terms, nearly 30% of you exclude any of our adverts.

Now, our sponsors have trackers on their adverts to see how many times their adverts are being loaded, which they evaluate careful prior considering any sponsorship renewal - so you can see the problem we have.

Our adverts are not intrusive, and clearly, we rely on them to help keep this place maintainable. GOT is by some margin my biggest expense and the long and short of it is, if our sponsors dont renew and I can't secure an alternative - GrandOldTeam dies.

Play the game - if you have adblock, make the two clicks required to add us to your safe/whitelist.

1. Click on the Adblock Icon (Usually top right of your browser)

2. Click 'Don't run on pages on this domain' (Or, 'Add to Whitelist' or 'Exclude Adblock on this domain)

3. Finally, confirm your option

Use Chrome you freaks. Unless you're on a Mac in which case it's okay to use Safari.

I disabled AdBlock on this site and can see the adverts but I still get that annoying red spammy GOT anti adblock advice thing, tis annoying.

What browser mate? Firefox?

I had that using firefox too.

You can remove if you goto: AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*random letters and numbers*\chrome and open userContent.css in notepad.

Then add:

@-moz-document domain(grandoldteam.com) {

.noticeContainer {
display: none;
}

}

Save then restart your browser and it is gone. Easy

I did remove ad block, but the ads were intrusive and opening up new spam in new windows so I put it back on.

This just isn't true.

There are absolutely no new windows or spam on here - simply 1 responsive google ad placed once on each thread.

Having adblock on here is considerably more intrusive because it'll display a massive red box where the ad should be, telling you to turn it off

If you have pop up ads when you disable adblock, its because you have malware on your system

Correct. I've had adblock off for years on this site and not experienced one intrusive ad.

Adbloc is a bloody nuisance I took it off over 2 years ago cos it was messing things up.

Just gonna point out that there are extensions which can remove the messages that are placed when you remove ads. Only noticed the red box today anyway.

Still, fairer to whitelist ads for a website you visit regularly.

Just took it off, though if the adds do get annoying like they were to myself at the time, i will be re-adding it.

Don't mean to be a [Poor language removed], which is why i have removed it for now.
