Folks,

We've recently improved our statistic monitoring and have become aware that nearly 27% of last months traffic had a version of 'adblock' installed. In Layman's terms, nearly 30% of you exclude any of our adverts.

Now, our sponsors have trackers on their adverts to see how many times their adverts are being loaded, which they evaluate careful prior considering any sponsorship renewal - so you can see the problem we have.

Our adverts are not intrusive, and clearly, we rely on them to help keep this place maintainable. GOT is by some margin my biggest expense and the long and short of it is, if our sponsors dont renew and I can't secure an alternative - GrandOldTeam dies.

Play the game - if you have adblock, make the two clicks required to add us to your safe/whitelist.

Instructions
(Instructions may vary depending on the adblock software and version you run, please reply if you're unsure)

1. Click on the Adblock Icon (Usually top right of your browser)

2. Click 'Don't run on pages on this domain' (Or, 'Add to Whitelist' or 'Exclude Adblock on this domain)

3. Finally, confirm your option

Just took it off, though if the adds do get annoying like they were to myself at the time, i will be re-adding it.

Don't mean to be a [Poor language removed], which is why i have removed it for now.

Nonsense that, no way are our adverts intrusive.

Our messaging asking to remove adsense are more intrusive.

Next step will be preventing access to anyone with Adblock enabled too.

People who block ads won't click them, so they block them. What loss of revenue is there? I'm not savvy in that respect.

Read the first post pal.

It's not all about clicks.

Blocking ads block sponsor page views.

Our sponsors see 50% of the audience (due to adblock blocking), when our host of course requires 100% to be paid for.

It's something to do with traffic flow i think. No idea but this is the only site my adblock is turned off for.

I have to agree the adverts are very non intrusive they are just banners i can handle that.

Thats a bit much isnt it? Didnt realise we were in North Korea !

No.

Why should I pay for such selfishness? My responsibility is to sustain GrandOldTeam, those not playing the game compromise that and it's good riddance as far as I'm concerned.

I'd already have done it if it wasn't for people who have adblock enabled on work devices.

Don't tell me as a user of your forum if something isn't intrusive to the way i use it, it was intrusive and i didn't like looking at the adverts or (sometimes but very rarely, but i am sure you will disagree) pop ups that actually came from some of the adverts, it's in my choice to decide what is is intrusive to my usage or not.

Not true. I could very easily install intrusive adverts that bypass any adblocker...

Shortly, we'll be able to know which user has adblock enabled and as the owner of this forum, if you do, I'll tell you to go and find another forum.

I pay for you to use this forum. Remember that. So yes, I will tell you - certainly when it comes to issues sustaining this forum for all.

Don't tell me as a user of your forum, THAT I USE FREE OF CHARGE, if something isn't intrusive to the way i use it, it was intrusive and i didn't like looking at the adverts, THAT ENABLE ME TO USE THIS FORUM FREE OF CHARGE, or (sometimes but very rarely, but i am sure you will disagree) pop ups that actually came from some of the adverts, it's in my choice to decide what is is intrusive to my usage or not.
amended slightly.

I have no self entitlement it's a great forum with a great service, but you offer the forum free of charge so you can't go, 'oh i could do this i could do that', that in it's self is a sense of self entitlement. I have removed the ad-block because it's detrimental to the forum, which i clearly wouldn't do if i didn't think it provided a good service.

Don't try to make threats on something that IS free service.
