Adebayors stamp on Van Persie

I think Adebayors stamp looks fairly deliberate after watching the video. I have to say that Van Persies tackle wasn't exactly mild mannered either to be fair, but Adebayors reaction was well over the top.

Robin van Persie has issued the following statement following an incident with Emmanuel Adebayor at Saturday's game:

"I am sad and disappointed by my former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor's mindless and malicious stamp on me during today's match.

"We are both professional footballers and I know that the game is physical, I too have made hard and sometimes mis-timed challenges but never with the intention of hurting an opponent. He set out to hurt me today.

"I knew he was aiming for a collision because he changed the angle of his body to allow contact to be made. He moved backwards when his natural momentum would have taken him forward. I find that deeply disrespectful. He has shown a real lack of class today, to me and the fans.

"I do feel lucky that I have not suffered a greater injury. The contact was only centimetres from my eye. I have not received an apology from him, there were no words exchanged afterwards. He had his own agenda today and that is bad for football. It's bad for the game we all love.

"I want to make it clear that this has nothing to do with the result of today's match. We do not hide from that disappointment but I need to speak out about his behaviour."

Neither are angels.
Do you think he'll get a ban from the FA?

Anything less than 12 game ban and its an outrage. If Eduardo gets banned 2 games for diving, assualt should carry a lot more.

Im also hoping for some jail time. Send him down.

come on lads get a grip on reality please - ok i see it as adebayor did it on purpose but lets not forget RVP's 2 footed lunge at him leading upto it it.

2 wrongs dont make a right but i feel that this would have not made such a reaction if we wouldnt have spent so much or indeed "did the wrong things" trying to sign JL ?

RVP isnt an angel and has done worse than this and in fact is whinging about something mainly because of there result against us and its being blown out of proportion now and i can think of worse things that a certain duncan ferguson has done in the past whilst playing for his teams so try and think how you felt when that went on before giving this poor old city fan here stick :D

He got stamped in the face, how on earth can he blow it out of proportion?

i didnt mean it about the stamping on the face mate and ive already said it was out of order.

its the fact that we are going to have to get used to witch hunts now with our high profile because every team in the land and every newspaper in the land is out for us.

we created the monster so we are going to have to deal with it but its hard to swallow from genuine city fans(not the bandwagon jumpers) that we have become a hated team when we aint used to it :(

the adebayor v RVP thing i can understand but when adebayor scored and ran all the way to the arsenal fans i can understand because of the near bordering racism he edured today and i dont really consider that bad because imagine if it was you who was getting abuse from fans that was abusing you or your dad would you be happy ? or would you think " im going to shut them up if i score" ?

footballers are human mate and i cant fault him for that because football is nothing like anything else regarding passion and emotion takes over and theres been worse incitment in football over the yeaers thats gone un punished but it now seems that the national press are going to get adebayor a 3 match ban which is a shame considering he has already come out and said sorry.

its a funny old game eh

I honestly dont see what your point is??

Let me break it down for :

He stamped in somebodys face, if he did that in the street he would go to jail, so he should get jail. A ban should be the least of his worrys.

Im sure Hughes will fine him a few weeks wages or maybe he will adopt your stance and blame it all on the media witch-hunt.

Sometimes there is no excuse. I hope he gets what he deserves, I bet you didnt defend Cantona when he jumped into the crowd.

as a matter of fact i did mate

why should some low life abuse someones family and get away with it ? ok a football player should be a professional but theres times when people lose it be it in the street or at work etc etc and what cantona did i said at the time and i will say it now WELL DONE.

not that im aggressive or anything i just done condone anyone in the stands making comments that cantona had to take which was vile.

i think that moment by cantana(great player by the way) made most fans think twice thankfully because at the end of the day players aint there to abuse and i aint got time for racism either in my life off line or online and it should be stamped out and cantona started that ball rolling mate i feel.

im not defending adebayor today with his "stamp" but im saying regarding his celebration im saying thats not so bad considering the abuse he took during the game which was abusing him and his family which was bordering on racism mate.
