Would be a bit stupid if we do let him leave considering who we have let go already. Since January Lennon Mirallas Bolasie Vlasic and probably Sandro have all gone. We’re left with Richarlison (banned), Walcott (injury prone), Bernard (injured) and Lookman as our wide options. If we sell Lookman we have three players (Bernard might not even be that comfortable out there). Would be foolish in the extreme.

None of them were good enough, we dont need to replace them or worry about a gap they have left in the squad since all they did was take the occasional bench seat and wages

Don’t know if this has been discussed elsewhere but heard a rumour that Liverpool are pulling the strings in the background. They are using Leipzig to get Lookman out of Everton. Close links between Liverpool and Leipzig with the German connection and sale of Keita. It does seem nonsense to think that Lookman would be seeking a move to Germany full-time. More likely that somebody has got to him and his agent and they are manipulating things to get the move they want. If it was anyone else in the league who wanted him they would just make an offer to us but Liverpool know we wouldn’t sell directly to them. So when he goes to Leipzig put your money on him turning up at Liverpool in 12 months – nice £5 m-£10 m profit for Leipzig so they’re happy and Liverpool get the player they want relatively cheaply.

Seems a bit odd to me. I was under the impression Lookman wanted out because he was homesick. How would moving a couple of miles across Liverpool alleviate that??

You are allowed to want players with high potential. That’s why we should want to keep him. Doesn’t have to be a starter right now to have future value. That said, the Liverpool thing is complete nonsensical bs.

I hate to just have wasted money on the books, but sometimes you need to make a statement. Thankfully for us, Lookman is nowhere near a high profile player/personality. If he badmouths the club, it won’t really have much of an impact at all. Unfortunate for him really.
