Ademola Lookman

maybe he's just not hungry enough to really want it, earns a good crust, I think it's a bit of a problem in this country where youngsters who have achieved Sweet FA are earning more than most of us earn in a year per week, where is the motivation for them?

Not saying this is Ademolas problem but it could be, you would think he would be doing his very best every day to play at the weekend but it seems he isn't, why should he he'll still pick up his £xxxxxxK without getting a sweat on.

For all we know, Lookman is doing what he needs to do on the tactical things. Certainly when he's played he hasn't seemed out of step with everyone else, which would be the biggest evidence that he wasn't getting it

Everyone is jumping to the assumption that he has a bad attitude here. Maybe, just maybe, Lookman's attitude is fine but Silva is out to lunch over a perceived slight or the fact that Lookman doesn't look "bothered" enough when he trains? Maybe he's wrong?

Maybe Lookman goes about things differently and the managers we've had haven't appreciated that fact? Maybe the Leipzig manager did appreciate it and knew how to man manage Lookman to get the best out of him where as the managers we've had haven't?

There have been plenty of players over the years who have been better in a match situation than in training, and the former should always trump the latter, because the former is what really matters

Still do not think we have seen enough evidence that he can produce the goods. I know he hasn't been played a lot but with 3 managers not giving him the game time is damning against Lookman. Maybe Silva is putting an arm around his shoulder trying to bring the best out of him but Lookmans best might not be good enough for the job in hand. There are a lot of maybe's but I go back to 3 managers that Lookman has failed to impress.

Totally agree with this. It's well know that when a youngster earns that amount of money in football, they have the perception that they've made it. Due to this, the drive and desire wanes. It's probably the reason a lot of young players disappear into oblivion. Big wages should be paid to big players. To be a big player, you have to work hard enough to get into the squad first!

TBF he's been no worse than any of our other attacking midfielders when he's played IMO. But I understand Silva's position if he's not pulling his weight in training.
At different times this season both he and Gueye have wanted to leave and told no, but its seems that the way Gueye has dealt with is to press on and actualy play better, but not so Ademola, which is a shame.

It is a very important time in his career for Lookman and I think the manager is trying to steer him in the right direction.

This is not about money as Lookman will earn pots of it in his career , it is about just how good a player Lookman wants to be.
We could use Raheem Sterling as an example of a player with loads of talent but in spite of getting a big move and a big contract has continued to work hard and improve his game to become a real quality footballer.
This is the kind of example Lookman should be looking at and if he did get the very best out of himself then he need not worry about getting the chance to move on... if that is what he wants.

It does seem as if the manager feels he could be doing better in training .

It's such a shame because I can see him going to some jarg league like Sancho and being really good playing week in week out and getting bought for the big bucks, I rate him pretty high but as someone said earlier, If you can't dislodge Walcott, Are you doing enough?

Agree with all of that, I’d love him to stay, I think he’s going to be a top class player in the future, but he really has got to prove he wants to be at Everton, I worry that he has good options in Germany that could be influencing him.

As an aside, thanks Danny, you’ll know what it’s about.
